I read somewhere that several countries have a new process of recycling fuel rods which extends the useful life of the fuel but also sharply reduces the radioactivity after 100 years.

The inside poop is that a new reactor will not happen at Calvert Cliffs because of natural gas is expected to remain low and the market is now deregulated (a relative term). If it does move forward with the plan, EDF will need to find a another partner because US law does not allow full ownership of a US nuclear reactor by a foreign company.

Obama claimed he was for it but then was against it but was for it again. So who knows if this will ever see a ground breaking. I doubt it under Obama.

This energy could be the key but for the waste factor. Right now, I understand recycling is not done here because the by-product is Plutonium with weapons grade potential and they don't want more of that laying around.

Other side of the coin has us creating concrete containers for spent fuel that must hold it for a thousand years. We need our best and brightest working on solving this waste issue. If there's another solution that helps, we need to explore it, big time!

All that's left is for them to mount a saddle on it so the marxist Kenyan stooge can ride a tipped "FU" rocket straight to Israel.
