I started at Brown College in Minneapolis in 03. I was also lied too by admissions. I was told they had an animation program, which ended up being a graphic design program. I wasn't interested but was too far in debt already to quit.

The 'financial aid' department hid the fact they they were signing me up for loans from Sallie Mae @ 14%! To aid insult to injury, they kicked me out 6 weeks before graduation under their 'attendance policy'. I missed 4 days due to a broken car. I even called and emailed to get the work done that I was missing.

2010 and I am royally screwed. I'm being sued by Sallie Mae and the others will probably do the same. I shouldn't owe this companies anyway, cec does! I've tried to get an attorney, but I can't afford it. Ideas anyone?

i am a victim of Gibbs COllege Norwalk Ct. owned by CE. i paid over 47K, was promised internships, job guarantees. You know the rest of the story. I think Sallie Mae should be sued for dumping hundreds of millions into schools owned by CE without demanding accountability. I also think it is disgusting that when you try to communicate with Sallie Mae, no one speaks becasue they OUTSOURCE their customer service to INDIA while we sit here in the USA UNEMPLOYED!

I, and many others, need HELP! I was attending IADT for over 3 years on student loans. In my final year my loans for declined, sallie mae said my credit was no longer good enough considering the "current economic situation". IADT didn't care, they told me to leave if I couldn't pay them. I am now over $100,000 in debt with the insane interest piling on everyday.

I am currently an admissions advisor for IADT and completely agree with everything being said. The company has so many lawsuits from students and now the current and former employees are filing. They still have goals that require us to enroll so many students or we will get written up. Even though every other for profit school has changed their advisors goals, IADT continues with enrollment quotas. The government is trying to put a stop to it however, CEC refuses to comply. I hope that things work out for all of you!

When I worked for CEC as an instructor the pressure was on to "retain students. I was ordered many times to change grades to please students that did not perform. The Company is corrupt and it is a scam to think that if you go to culinary school you will be a restaurant owner or executive chef right out of school. That is the lie they sell. Do not be fooled. Over drinks after work one night an admission "counselor" that I worked with was complaining about quotas and at the same time bragging about how he manipulated students into signing contracts. This guy was talking like a used car salesman although there are more laws to protect you when you buy a car. Buyer beware go to a good community college for $2000 total and work in a restaurant while you are there

I graduated in 04 from Gibbs college visual communication associates program in Vienna VA on gallows rd and received no help from the career services department! I would call and call and play weeks of phone tag with them and when i would speak with some one they would also shove fedex Kinko's down my throat!!! I was a young 20 year old brand new mother who was just looking to try and make a better future for my child and was fast talked in to a dream of having a fun and exciting career making great money in graphic design was told i did not have to be a good artist or be able to draw to have this kinda of career which you do if you want to be good! If the admissions rep Karen had not pulled out the money for the application fee and told me not to tell any one and i could pay her back when i got it, I probably would have never registered there i had not a dollar to my name at this point! now its been 5 years since i graduated and i have nothing but 40,000,00 in loans on my back and how i had grants to i know they did not tell me tuition was over 40,000,00 i remember a # around 28,000,00 so how do i have 40,000,00 after grants as well ?????? you tell me that sound right to you? hello people i can work at fedex Kinko's with out a degree!!!!! how can i be apart of the lawsuit and testify?

I attended Le Cordon Bleu/Orlando Culinary Academy in 2005 - and sadly because of job condition I bought into their lies about 6 figure salaries upon graduation. With 6 classes left I was pulled into the financial aid office and was demanded to come up with a co-signer because "I had done something to my credit" or leave school. I was a working mother with 2 kids and my husband made minimum wage. After a couple hours sitting in financial aid I was escorted back to my classroom to collect my books/bag and asked to leave the property. I still have loans to pay. How can I get into this class action lawsuit -- I'm still suffering from what these clowns put me thru.

Hopefully CEC has seen it's last days. These Private For-Profit Schools should be shut down.

Career Education Corporation which runs numerous schools is under Federal investigation, numerous student investigations/lawsuits and shareholder investigations/lawsuits.

This company is using the same deceitful illegal techniques to enroll students. CEC has closed numerous schools after class-action were brough forward by students. There are cuntless lawsuits still pouring in, so don't get caught with a school on your resume that no loner exist.

I will be forming a lawyer student contact area on my YouTube channel. I formed one 5 years ago and connected hundreds of students with lawyers and their class-actions were successful -- read recent settlement findings.

CEC deceived me 5 years ago and I vowed to bring student awareness to thier illegal practices.

I worked at a CEC owned school (Brooks). Whenever all indications were that the student did not have the wherewithall to succeed in their program, I would do everything I could to get them out as soon as possible. I did not want them getting into debt and having nothing to show for it.

We once had an admissions rep who enrolled a student who had an IQ of 75!! Everyone knew it, but no one did anything about it.

Fools such as President Al Nederhood and VP of Finance Tom Harris didn't care. Their job was to put butts in the seats. They didn't care if the student was left on the hook for ten of thousands of dollars, as long as they got their Title IV money.

I don't know how those scumbags sleep at night. Nederhood is still in the for-profit education industry. I'm sure he's still enrolling students who don't belong there.

Good luck to all of you students who got ripped off!!

I agree with you all, I too am a former CEC employee. I was employed there for a few years. It was sales tactics and we were harrassed as admissions reps if we did not meet our goals. I couldnt believe some of the things I would hear other admissions reps saying, but at the end of the day they were promoted. Honesty is not a requirement to work for CEC. If anything the less honest of a person you are the better for them.
