WTVN staff will provide news the way other local radio stations do, by reading the Dispatch over the air. They already know how...

Didn't Stoia used to work for a different station? And didn't she work for a school after that?
"Stoia has been communications/community relations director for the suburban New Albany school district since leaving TV. A quick Google search tells us she left there in February, after her contract wasn't renewed..."
As so often is the case, those who give us our, ahem, news...which always leads us down the path of voting more money to the schools, have strong connections to those schools. Either they used to be teachers. Or their spouses or children are teachers. Or they sit on school boards. Etc. I guess it's hard to be even-handed when you're hooked up with the schools. At any rate, I guess she'll be back working for a school now.

Isn't this a case of the media overinflating its importance? I'm pretty sure lots of companies have laid off at least 3 people in the past few years. How many of them were covered with dedicated articles in the Dispatch?

Don't forget that some of them may have children that go to schools. Or friends or neighbors with children that go to schools. And of course, should all those allegations fall through, you can always blame them for trying to boost property values by pushing for a good school district. Self-serving bastards.

District communications coordinator Lu Ann Stoia said she thought the district had made a great effort to get the word out.

"We had billboards, we had parties, we had pancakes," Stoia said. "We had a great Web site. Obviously the turnout impacted it, and we were the only thing on the ballot. I also think that when you go to the gas pump and it's over $3 a gallon, and then people are worried about their home sales and with what's happening with the real estate market, that's going to impact people."

Sweet little LuAnn. Working hard to get those higher taxes passed for New Albany.

I stopped listening to WTVN years ago after they canned weatherman Pat Pagano and tried to replace him with that TV10 pretty face fake Chris Bradley.

lets see, conners phones it in from florida until 9, propaganda till 3, then corby (when he's there) re-reads beck's stories like they're his own.

far cry from the station of the 70's and 80's.

losing that buckeye contract to broadcast the games was the beginning of the end.

oh, and i never could understand pat pagano's forcasts - the guy could be sitting in the middle of the parking lot in a rain storm and still be talking about weather trends for the weekend.

Sad to see these pro's go. This is so typical of an industry that has been so overwhelmed by corporate entities like Clear Channel, who cares not for quality of their broadcast product but only for the bottom line. WTVN's news efforts was already diminished in recent years in favor of an obnoxious "talk" (blather) format. Now, with three more veteran news reporters being let go, they are only diminished further.

Clear Channel across the country would rather give you flaming idiots on talk shows than reasoned and rational discussion of the issues. It won't affect me...I went to NPR long ago. It is a shame though. There used to be a fairness doctrine that required those that us the public airwaves to broadcast in the public interest. Now it is how much profit can I suck out and how much propaganda can I spread. Clear channel is one of the worst things that has happened to this country.

It's actually bad karma comin 'round. They wanna play Rush Limbaugh in what has always been a moderate town and what is increasingly a Democratic town, this is what they get.

Well Clear Channel knows how to screw the listners of the city of Columbus.
They will be loosing another listner I use to count on the reliance of there news especially during the winter.
Before anybody gets there rearends in an uproar I could count on WTVN to be covering breaking news when it happened because they had personel to do that. But cutting staff will not allow them to cover the news as efficent.Maybe Clear Channel and Media General(WCMH-4)should get together they(Media General)cut there news staff down to nothing.
I must reiterate 610 has lost me as a listner.
And that is that.
