WGN's major problem is that other than the Cub and Sox games, it programs to a narrow band of viewers with its program of sitcoms that have no appeal to 80 percent of the television audience.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - LOSE the eyes graphic. They're not sexy, they're not appealing, and they're not retro-cool.

Unless, of course, you *want* to put out an image that's 20 years out of date. And even the Duran Duran "Rio" album reference, which is what they were going for, is older than that.

WGN America. America. Hmm.. Brings to mind.... red... white... blue... Cubs are red and blue....

And instead you go for PURPLE and GREEN?

Like, totally, gag me with a spoon! That is *so* not, like, gnarly.

I live in Minnesota and we get WGN on cable. We watch the news because it's a good way to keep in touch with my former home state. But the rest of the lineup is awful. Endless reruns of some program showing "funny" video of people hurting themselves and reruns of "American Idol." The only thing worth watching are the Cubs games, and they show fewer and fewer every year. Put something remotely intelligent on the channel and people may watch it.

Other than an occasional Friends re-run, I haven't watched anything on Channel 9 since Veronica Mars got yanked.

More Sister to Sister reruns are not going to fit the bill.

If WGN would quit airing the trashy programs they are now (most came in with the WB), I would start watching WGN more often. They used to be the place to go for family oriented programs, but not any more!

After WKRP, run the Rockford Files and Hogan's Heroes, and I will never tune in another station. Add Happy Days, Square Pegs, and Quantam Leap on other days and I promise you I will never leave the living room again.

Oh, goody... more "edgy" content that "pushes the envelope."

How 90s... how boring. If I wanted weirdness and porn, I wouldn't turn to TV.

It definitely smacks of a de facto decision that didn't get the benefit of even a focus group. Not that focus groups are the be-all end-all. Sometimes we're "focus grouped" to death. But in this case, it might have helped.

Compton hopes the nation will barely recognize the channel? Well, congratulations, it's already happened. Out of Sight Retro Night? Chief Innovation Officer? What is that? Someone who is completely out of touch with what their audience would like to watch? And lose the stupid eye logo.

Old WGN:
All Cubs games
Original Programming (Ray, Bozo, Frasier Thomas ...)
Family films and comedy series
New Super-whatever-station:
A quarter of the Cub games
No original programming
Garbage reruns and trash TV
Any questions?

I still have an antenna on the roof. Please put WGN-America on 9-2.

This is what we need to see - change. Brilliant. Let's see some changes made. Nice work Compton and the rest of the crew. What do you have to lose?

I live in Michigan now but still tune into the Cubs games. Other than that, I haven't caught more than the occasional news program in years. The rest of it was all trash.

If they come back with old classic sitcomss, I might find myself watching. There isn't much new stuff on any channel worth watching any more. It's all junk that I won't let my kids watch, so I don't watch it either.

Pardon my public exuberance...
Tom Skilling puts me to sleep. Literally.

He may be a great meteorologist, but he's a lousy presenter. He rambles, he tries to show too many graphics for too little time each, and he never gets to the point.

TV weather watchers want to know three things:(1) how should I dress tomorrow; (2) when is it likely to rain next, so should I have the car washed or wait, and should I water the lawn or let God do it; and (3) what’s the weather for the weekend likely to be. That should take 90 seconds max. Anything more is superfluous.

Oh, and the 1980s Elvira eyes don't do a thing for me. I didn't like Elvira then, and I still don't like her.

Maybe the programmers will learn that they need to anchor the station with ALL Chicago Cub games, not the absolute mess they have now with some games on Comcast, some on WCIU, and some on alternate Comcast channels that you can never find. TBS doesn't show Brave games on any other channel - other than Fox or ESPN game of the week.

Also, if they want to compete with TBS, they need to show more classic movies. During slow tv times, TBS is always good for a cool movie from the 80s or 90s. You can never go wrong with regularly airing the likes of Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, or the National Lampoon series.

Dropping the WB and now the CW are great steps in the right direction. What a bunch of short term thinking that was.

Does this mean an end to the news broadcast at noon and nine? Those of us who have relocated out of town enjoy keeping up with happenings in the old home town via the TV medium.
