Durbin wants MORE radio stations. The GOPpers don't want radio competition.

No free market if the GOP gets their way.

GOPper Thune said “I am troubled that as we killed the ‘Fairness Doctrine,’ Senator Durbin’s amendment brought to life a new threat to talk radio and other arenas of free speech.”

GOP hates free speech and competition.

Totally fascist GOP now days...

Let the people talk!

By "going after Rush" do you mean paying a maid to take a pallet of Oxycodone to his door and tell him the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 301 et seq.) no longer applies to ranting narcissistic and pompous hate mongers who desire for the U.S. to fail and who also suffer from severe fake back pain?

Cause we'd get him then.

I seem to remember "Air America", with some guy who later ran for senator, but lost. It had no listeners, and was canceled. Obama, and the liberals want to shut down anyone who shows them for what they are. I'm sure Obama will be asking Topix for the IP addy's of posters next. This is censorship, plain and simple. If the democrats feel so strongly about the honesty of themselves and their bills, they should have nothing to fear. And if not....they will shut down the media, just like Hugo Chaves, and Fidel Castro did. The dishonesty of them is really starting to show.

If Rush draws a large audience like he has, he'll be on all across the nation. Ratings is the name of the game.

If Clear Channel can't own all the radio stations they'll still make a killing brokering Rush's show, and eliminate all the overhead of operating radio stations.

Nothing wrong with diverse ownership, or local programming. If there are no little stations to learn the ropes, where will the next Rush come from after the Original has the big grabber?

More fuss about nothing. Right wing hysteria lives! Personally, I'd be more worried about Obama if I was a far right wing nut. But hey, if fussing about radio drones eases the pain, it's cheaper than Oxycontin, or choosing between Palin and Jindal.

LOL!!!

When Obama, Pelosi and Reid, and others, keep picking away at our freedoms, and we start to be very uncomfortable, Good old Rush and Sean come to our rescue and give us a few hours of hope and sanity. We will come together and not let our Freedom of Speach be denied us.

Friends of ALIPAC,

Please access our ALIPAC Directory for the US Senate and start with calls to your own two Senators. Then proceed to call and e-mail as many others as quickly as possible!

We just received word that the US Senate may vote TODAY on an amendment by Senator Durbin that would reinstate the "Fairness Doctrine" that will regulate free speech on talk radio and the web!

We just received this news from FOX.

Please call, e-mail or Fax as many senators as you can to say.

"How dare the Senate take up rapid consideration of an amendment by Senator Durbin that could hinder free speech in America! I want Senator _____ to vote AGAINST the DURBIN Amendment and against the Fairness Doctrine. Please ask Senator ______ to vote FOR Senator DeMint's amendment instead, which would protect free speech in America!"

The supporters of illegal immigration and AMNESTY are supporting this sneak attack on free speech to try and prevent debate before they try to push Amnesty again soon.

Please spread the word as fast as you can!

You're a day late and 16 votes or so short Sparky.
READ THE DATES on your links.

The Senate voted along party lines Thursday to adopt an amendment sponsored by Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.), the second-ranking Democrat in the chamber, that directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to “promote diversity in communication media ownership and to ensure that broadcast station licenses are used in the public interest.”

The measure passed 57-41 without a single Republican vote.

I say let the free market audience decide what they like to listen to, not the government. With freakin' Durbin behind the gay wheel we will all be forced to listen to Mexican Mariachi's, Black Thug Rap Music, Asian blowpipe, and Gay and Lesbian Talk shows with the Muslim channel spewing out the Koran readings every hour for their prayer hour all in the name of fairness doctrine. Let's face it you can't be fair to everyone. Beheading your wife's head and leaving her for display in a newsroom is not what I call Fairness doctrines it's called shocking news which the gay, liberal, democratic media refuses to show to the FREE MARKET AUDIENCE.

That's how you feel because the FREE MARKET is already giving us ALL that CRAP. The only things worth watching are on PBS or the History Channel. Other than those channels, there's no such thing as NEWS anymore. It's all "entertainment" and BS "reality" shows. It's no wonder kids are so dumb and uninspired. Guess the apples don't fall far from the trees.

Durbin's iniative undermines the free market by putting quotas in which will be followed by gov't money to prop up stations with little or no audiences.

As the crackdown on illegals and a slowing economy in Arizona has led to a decrease in Spanish speaking radio stations as a few have closed shop.

I'm sure Komrad Durbin wants to keep them going with a racial/ethnic/language quota gov't sudsidy program.

Doesn't the free market put quotas on information based on one's ability to pay the ad fees, forcing stupid infomercials on us rather than substantive programing? What was wrong with TV before all the deregulation?

Free market is based on drawing audiences to programming hoping they buy the sponsors products.

If they want to take info. money that's their biz and I never watch anyway.

What happened to TV was dereg has allowed 200-300 different channels . Not the old big three plus 2-3 ed and independants.

When you say "people trashing Limblah on his drug use" do you mean the FBI and DEA?

Cause that never happened with Obama, Bush, and Clinton.

Yeah, like the FBI and/or the DEA would touch them. Fact is that Rush, Bush, Clinton and Obama all purchased and used drugs. Yet you bash one and vote for another, seems a bit hypocritical to me. I am no fan of Rush but if your going to preach about principles then stick to your message.
