I have moved on from a nearly forty year run in radio,so I think I can comment effectively on this topic. My comment is,why, why, why is Mr. Zell, an obviously intellegent and successful individual, bringing in these individuals to 435 N. Michigan? WGN -TV may be in need of help, but they're mired in the same situation as all of terrestrial TV:shifting viewing patterns, more choices,an undesireable demographic using too much of the product.WGN Radio is another story. It is one of the most successful broadcast operations in the country. It consistantly hits the mark in reaching the listeners advertisers seek, and the TSL, time spent listening, is tremendous. I listen constantly when I am visiting Chicago.WGN Radio IS Chicago, as is WBBM. WLS used to be, but with the syndicated crap and the boring hosts, it's an also-ran.WGN is performing as it should. Mr. Zell, you don't know me from Adam, nor could care, but don't let those guys mess with success.

If these executives signed an employment contract that restricts them from seeking work from a competitor (a year is normal) then Clear Channel can sue the employee, but I've never heard of the new employer (in case, the Trib) getting sued. It sounds like sour grapes to me.

The Clear Channel organization is a promoter of Fascism and on the brink of having a near monopoly that will greatly reduce freedom of choice and freedom of the press. I wish them the worst.

What does this tell you about the company that hires the architects of that organization? What does the Tribune want to accomplish here - it's own monopoly, of course.

Assuming that you're not a shill for the company that wrote the article, I'd say your reading comprehension is lacking. The suit is about one company stealing trade secrets from another, not breaking an employment contract. Sheesh!

If the Tribune is going to hire people in radio, can they finally hire someone to get rid of Ron Santo?

Nothing secret about Clear Channel's strategies: layoff most of the local talent, put a ton of commercials on the radio, and contribute to right-wing political campaigns to gain favor with lawmakers and the FCC.

it's called competition. No wonder why our economy is tanking. Sad to watch our cry baby society dig deeper and deeper into a hole.
