Why can't Charter be sold and the Asheville area get a good cable provider?

Gannett is in the same boat as all of them. The media are in a very sad state in our country.
You'll get new cable in 2009 - after the FCC sells our airwaves for a couple billion to ATT, Verizon, and/or Google. It'll be wireless and one of those corps will make a bundle and have the opportunity to screw you too.
I don't know why the Govt. doesn't maintain control themselves (if they could be trusted to keep it "free") and broadcast nationally. I guess what I really don't understand is why the vast majority of folks don't seem to care.
