Systemmax which has been around for many years, has as its primary on-line brand, Tiger Direct which many, including myself, have purchased from for more than ten years. They also have the brand of CompUSA.. Systemax re-branded the Tiger Direct retail stores to the CompUSA name, in addiiton to owning and running the CompUSA web site. The Tiger Direct operated websites for Circuit City and CompUSA are near identical to what is sold on the TigerDriect web site. In this particular case the company running the brands of formerly bankrupt companies is a good operator, who has considerable expereince with on-line sales. I would be very cautious on some of the other brands that have been bought up by new owners. Many of the new owners of these brands have no experience in on-line sales, or that field of slaes. If it is the re-birth of an old brand, most likely it has no tie to the former company, and may not be what you think it is.
