<quoted text> Well i have a 2008, 389 c-15 "not very happy" 28 lbs boost 98% of the time, untill it regens tghen i get 42lbs. I owned it for 3 years and i figure with loss of loads, down time, im $30,000 short. nobody wants to help me any more cause , the way it seems, is my truck is a problem truck and blow it out the door fast! it has been 98% warranty but that is not the point. and nobody will fix it untill it actuly breaks. How can a guy get reimburst???
Take that engine in and get all the crap stripped off the side... drove an '08 western star with a 550 c15, and it was constantly in and out of the shop. I think total count was 7 turbochargers, 6 air compressors, 3 ARD heads, 2 particulate filters, a complete in-frame, and countless other annoying problems. And this was all before 300,000 miles! Finally after the warranty had elapsed, my boss had it taken to a private mechanic who gutted the particulate filter(now essentially straight pipes), dead ended the fuel lines on the ARD head, and installed a new ECM. In 6 months, the truck has never been back to the shop, turbo boost is now 50+ psi, fuel economy has increased by 25%, and horsepower is somewhere about 675 at the flywheel. All for about $7500CDN. But strictly on fuel economy alone, it pays for itself in a matter of months, and puts real $$ back in your pocket. These new motors are duds! Don't let anyone tell you that yours is the only lemon on the road... There are THOUSANDS of them out there that are duds just the same.

Best regards!

I have a 08 Westernstar with a c-15 cat 550 its the worst motor I've owned. 4 ards, numorous plugs, wire harness's, dep cleanings ,screens in ard, ard modules, tow bill all paid out of pocket and 3weeks work lost just this summer with many many previous days lost sure do put a severe crunch in the budget. I bought the best 5year 300000 mile warranty that was offered to me. Most sensors and many computer flashes and the computer replacement was covered along with the replaced turbos, but with no parts on hand, waiting for parts, all have added to a higher monthly repair bill then truck payments in the 3 years I've owned it.

I was thinking of changing the 2 catalyitic converters out on my 05 W9 to some smaller flow thru exhaust. I'm thinkin better air flow , thus better fuel mileage. I'm averaging 5.14 mpg now pulling heavy feeder loads. Anyone have thus done? I can have it done for about $800, so a .5 to a 1 mpg increase would pay for its self in a couple of weeks. Griz, have you any thoughts about this?
