the biggest diffence is probably emissions, i hear that the emissions regulation is more strict in EU area than in US.

2008 600 hp Cat engines suck crap. Never had such a lemon of a motor, missed 88 loads in 1 year, 10 sets of turbos, ard heads probably 4 I think, CGI coolers, leaks, and no power, probably good Cat is getting out of the market. They suck. Painted yellow at least matches the lemons they are trying to be.No help from Cat, thank god for warranty, not sure what to do about the lost downtime, as well as what happens when off warranty, over $200,000 of warranty repairs in a year. I think there may be a problem.

Acert seems to be running good.
I have had a recent problem with the VVA's. The solinoids which change the oil flow have a small spring in them. I had one that was always sticking. I decided to try a softer spring so I changed them out in December of last year and I haven't had a problem since. Before, my check engine light would come on blinking 92 code every morning. The engine runs ''hella'' better now.I think I might have found something!

I am an owner operator in the Las Vegas area hauling overlength overwieght aggregate loads locally. I heard through the grapevine that cat was discontinuing production of its on highway engines after 2009. While searching the web about cat I came across this blog and have been reading the last 2 years of entries with great interest. I am the proud owner of a 95 W900L Kw powered by a 3406E 550hp Cat w 1.3 million, 300k on the last rebuild with a RTL0187186 driving a DS404 3.55" rear end. Needless to say she gets on down the road. In my experience I have found Cats to be reliable and powerful the key is to keep them meticulously maintained and if you do they will make you money. When it comes time to replace my rig I hope that Cat engines are still availiable and if they are not then that is too bad.

They are the Variable Valve Actuators, that play a role in adjusting injector timing. They are what helps these engines not to smoke as much.

Ive been running an c15 acert for 3years rated at 550hp. and have also learned that if u run at 1500rpms and shift at that rpm. it will run very well. i also have overrided the fuel and air sensor to make them think im running at 32F, and have readjusted my turbo manifold so it puts out 68psi which i dont recommend because the turbos mounting bolts can break apart. on a dino this motor is putting out 650hp. it smokes as if it has a performance module in it. I dont recommend doing this if ur not an experienced driver. Personally i have never had any problems it runs amazingly smoother. But the secret to these motors is running them at low rpms because they are not build for high rpms with there peak torque being at 1500.
just wondering i have a 475 acert engine just wondering on some tips to get mor power alittle sluggish on the hills

Having problems with our C15. We get regular sensor failures, and are having problems with the DPF. Anyone else have the same issue?

The 475hp rated C-15 is not that strong. I had a [email protected] that would out-pull a C-15 set at 475hp.
Unless you set your C-15 at 550hp, it is not impressive.
Do you drive it like a Cat? If you wind it up like a detroit or a cummins the fuel will suck. Manage your rpm's and your fuel economy will rise.
Put it on the computer and make sure all the de-rating settings are turned off.
How is the truck geared? A C-15 is best when turning about 1600 at road speed.
CAT usually takes interest in their motors performing poorly. Gossip is nice but CAT shops are better. Take your truck to CAT and put it on a dyno,...see what it's doing. If it's under warranty, they'll do whatever it takes to get it to spec...if it's not under warranty they can tell you what the problem is.
Just because you bought a CAT engine does not mean it's set strong or that it has been maintained properly.

The competition has been spreading the CAT engines no longer available story for some time.
Check out CAT's areas of profit,..they will not stop making CAT highway engines even after the cows come home.

i have a 05 cat c-15 set at 475hp 1850 torque this is what i did i changed the mufflers to straight threw this helped some then got a fuel temp wire and boost wire from platinum performance then changed the primary filter setup to a screen type for better flow then shimmed the fuel pump all this and it didn't cost much and it pulles hard now plus better fuel mileage i get about 8-10 mph out of it on a 6% grade it's a hole new motor.

what they do is open the intake valve at the same time the exaust valve is open , it is basicaly a egr valve. you can put a new wire harnass in the spacer plate on the head and run a 6nz ecm with a acert and it will run cooler and have about 10 more lbs of oil pressure. i have a bxs that makes 1002 rwhp and 2753 ft lbs of torque, dont beleive it check out my dyno runs on you tube,my channel is lizardtaimer
