here,s the skinny, good engine have to keep oil changed they will not run if dirty oil. fuel problems with pressure acuator on top next to filter other than that they are pretty good I have 2 of them one runs like a scalded dog the other runs ok not as much power as the other they are identical trucks both 3126 actuator about $138.00 plus the $98 per hr to diagnose it these are in wreckers so they get a workout

I have a 2002 ford f650 with a 3126. When the engine is cold it will not crank but smokes like it wants to. If you ether it and it satarts it will start fine until you let the engine rest for several hours. Have replaced the HUEI, ECM, one injector and had all pressures checked by tech with cat software. I also set the valve lash and checked the air intake heater for proper function. All fuel lines and filters were replaced and even tried installing a check valve and lift pump in the supply line to the primary fuel filter. Also changed oil and filter several times. None of this has helped cold start problems. Any help would be appreciated

I have a 2000 Fl 70 service truck with 190000 miles. Engine has never given any problems other than a few o rings that had to be replaced to stop leaks. On the other hand I have a 2002 f650 water truck with 19000 miles and the same engine and it has been a nightmare.

Just bought a 2000 C6500 with a 3126 in it and I'm having my first problem. Truck will not start once it sits for more than 4-5 hours. I've done a little bit of research and I've already checked the air intake heater and it's working fine. I suspect engine is losing prime. Any good ways to check this? Also, this engine has a block heater that I'd like to use, but cord is missing and heater element is damaged where cord should plug in. There really isn't much to grab onto to pull it out.......any ideas how to get element out of block? Any help is greatly appreciated. You can either respond here or email me at [email protected]

i need someone to help i have a 1999 chevy c6500 cat 3126 is anyone can tell me went can be wrong with it. it ran fine wand i drove it home i put 280 mile on it and the next day i drove it to put fuel in it and before i got to the gas sta it run like it on 5cyl does anyone no want can be wrong with it

About how much should it cost to get my 3126 210 hp engine turned up at the CAT dealer? Its in a FL 70.

Tony, We have a Freightliner M2 with a 3126 rated at 210 and I was quoted around $250-300 to get it turned up. Seems like alot of money just for that. Needless to say, it's still at 210. I'll be watching to see if you get any other responses.

Wow! Local Cat dealer just told me $650.00 to start would probably be more! It will stay at 210 for a while!

My 3126 has 190,000 miles on it and is using an excessive amount of oil. I had an injecter replaced about 10,000 miles ago and it seemed to use alot less oil before then? Its not smokinng or leaking that I can tell and it has alot of power?
DO ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS?

I have a 1999 gmc flatbed towtruck with a 3126 cat, just had for 3 months, has ran well but now wont start. It has 225,000 mi on it (tow trucks idle alot so maybe more worn than mileage would indicate) and is 190 hp with computer. How do I view fault codes? It is in climate of 25 to 30 degrees at night and 40 or so day. Just moved it to this climate. I tried to spray wd-40 while cranking but wouldnt start. what else should i try? Is it a bad idea at this milage to try to up to say 250hp and what is involved and cost?

Hows about sharing how to troubleshoot the pump or sensors or anything else, I have 3126 wont start, I just bought it so dont have much experience or history. there is about 8" of fuel in each tank, I loosened the filter next to engine and fuel comes out. I sprayed ether but it wont keep running when you stop cranking the starter,and I cant get the check eng light to flash at all. [email protected] thanks for any help at all

trying to find the name of a sensor..it is located 6-7 in from the motor on drivers side. goes vertically in to the head at th top (valve cover)

HAPPY NEW YEAR I HAVE A 99 STERLING WITH A 3126B THAT SMOKES WHITESH BLUE WHEN TAKING OFF AFTER IDLING FOR 10 MINUTES OR LONGER AND IS USING OIL CAN ANY ONE HELP ME OUT!
