there are parts in the governor that need to be changed. must truck and other engines have a 10% or greater drop in the governors actions, on a generator it is less then 3%.

Thanks for the input.
Could you please elaborate on which Parts are
needed. I plan to buy Cat 3406E from dealers
on the West Coast.
Is there anyone who can help me with the conversion ?

I appreciate all your help.

a 3406a,b,c is mechanicly driven. 3406e is an ecm controled engine. don't known if you can change the flash file to be a generator engine. they should be able to look it up and see if the ecm can be changed with a flash file or if a new ecm and flash file are needed.

I have a 2000 Sterling with a 3126B Cat. About a yr ago, it got hard to start. Took it into 2 different Cat dealerships. One changed the cam sensor, but it didn't make a difference. Now it is even more hard to start. It seems after 24hr is really hard to start...If I leave it longer it's really really hard to start. When and if I get it started, it seems to run like it has been run out of fuel for at least 20 minutes to an hour. After it does finally begin to run right, it seems fine.

Any suggestions as to what my problem is.(One dealer told me "they all run like that").

have the actuation pressure and current checked, this well tell you if your heui pump is not putting out enough pressure at the start to run the engine. monitor the oil pressure of the actuation pressure should be greater than 800-850 psi. also your injector oil system could be leaking passed the injectors and not injecting correctly. do this when you first try starting the engine after setting for the time you explained.

I have a 1999 freightliner with a dead Cat C12 engine. I am thinking of replacing the C12 with a 3406 or 3208. Can some experienced expert tell me if this will work, and if yes what extra parts will be needed to make it work? Please help.

The change is big like first the 3406e ishas more torque so may be trans change and the engine mounts will have to be moved and the air/air cooler will be larger i am sure and the radiator will be different and the wiring is different to the engine and drive line will have to be shorten.

I have a 77 KW with a 3406A block with brake saver. The brake saver is junk, does not work and leaks much oil. Can this be removed or disabled so it will not leak. I have had advice not to try to fix it as you may spend the money and not obtain the desired results. The engine is due for a rebuild at this time so I would like to resilve the brake saver problem. Any advice would be great, Thanks
