In-pharmacy medical clinic leaves clients out in cold
Corner Care Clinic, which had touted aggressive plans to open medical clinics inside pharmacies nationally, instead recently shut its doors.

Thank you, Daniel, for the coverage. Sadly, this is the first piece of communication we have read from anyone, anywhere about Corner Care Clinic and the closings. We, along with many dedicated vendors have been waiting payment. And ANY explanation, comments, or response. Julie Beckner, your response?

Sounds fishy to me. I don't really trust Cardinal Health anyway. So, from whom are they bilking the money -besides the vendors?

So let's get this straight...big company makes big promises and big commitments to small companies, then changes tack and acts small as it stiffs them. Nice.
Corner Care Clinic / Cardinal Health, why not act big and pay your debts? |

Although they may have had a plan, it abdicated itself from medical practice in offering advanced nursing. While NPs may be reasonably trained as advanced nurses, their training has not been composed of substantial medical training. People know and feel that impact and still desire the hands on contact of a medical provider.

Doublehook, lets not get in to a discussion about NP verus MD. That is NOT what this is about. There are too many studies that show NPs offer excellent care, have equal outcomes as MDs and that patients are AS satisfied with NPs as MDs.
There has to be more behind this story. I don't trust Cardinal and I don't think they are being truthful with ANYONE. How can they get away from NOT being eithical? What about their committment to Corner Care? What about all the employees - office and NP alike - that have suffered? Come on Cardinal tell the truth! |

55 to 75 dollars? I remember office calls at $5.00.:) But then they use to make house calls also.

Smartguys Advertising & Design in Fort Wayne is owed about $17,740 for advertising services, according to owner Kelly Gayer. "We never got one check from them," he said.
- Wow. You're the owner of a marketing business called 'Smartguys' and that is your quote? Was "We aint never but seen one red cent from 'em" already taken? Maybe you should try concentrating on how you market your self for a while.- |

If you need an angioplasty or an ACL repair, an M.D. is probably your best choice. Otherwise, NPs do a fine job of primary care and are just as well trained as doctors in dealing with minor issues that someone would go to a walk-in clinic for...Get your facts straight before you shoot off your mouth, doublehook |

Agree with sluggo.
Scott from NY, you're way off-base. This forum's topic is about how small companies are being ripped off by the big corporation, not whether the clinics are staffed by docs or NP's, and not whether the reporter who wrote the story quoted or mis-quoted someone. Contribute people. Contribute. Or find a forum that accepts bashing for the sake of bashing. |

Thank you Friends For Small Business. I agree with your comments they are a mirror of mine earlier.

I know the facts, one of the former employees, a NP, and have good knowledge with respect for her work. I agree that they can provide limited primary care. To be fully utilized however, they need excellent medical backup. Some areas did not have agreements, arrangements etc for immediate referrals. The NP are also not trained to observe many of the key, fine, diagnostic points that provide the elevated index of suspicion found in emergency medicine. There are still differences between nursing and medicine for which I am glad. Can't think of anyone better at bedside care than a nurse. Clinical diagnostics and medical treatment plans are still best developed by medical practitioners. The debate goes on.

Scott from NY, do you have nothing better to do with your life than insult others?
Maybe if you took intelligent chances--like the small business owners who supplied CCC with products and services on good faith--instead of just sniping from on high, you'd empathize with their plight. |

I was in on Corner Care at the beginning of the relationship. Don't fool yourself Julie Beckner was hoping for a big pay day from Cardinal and put all her eggs in one investment basket. Additionally, don't ever think she cared for one employee she ever had.

Do you honestly think that it was ALL Cardinal's responsibility?
