I agree I lost my job December 2009. Just found me a job about a month ago. I was in the auto division

I lost mine in Nov 2008 .....was doing my calls and
the DM came in and called me to his office. Had to
leave right after the call with HR....the only difference was I had no clue it was coming.
Worked there for 30 years.
I was thankfull to get a good severance package. I feel bad for all these employees
just waiting and wondering, its gotta be stressfull.

Yes, they fired all managers, associates are moved to "service centers" which basically - citifinancial is merely a collections agency now where you can work 12 hour days with no overtime, or quit in which case they will fight your unemployment

They were not "fired" they were let go or laid off...it wasn't because of their work it was merely downsizing and it is not like it is a big suprise....it has been coming for ther last 12 to 18months and deep down every one knew it

You are exactly right, if you are a long time employee don't give up and go down with the ship, unless you get better compensation elsewhere

I have to agree with "dont give up". I am going to be laid off myself. At the same time, Citi has really given a good severance package when they really didn't have to. I knew something was coming sometime this summer as well. The writing on the wall was there...

Does the State such as Texas matter when following Unemployment laws (severance pay for time worked at Citi) differ from other stats? In addition, is there any advantage to resign if asked to resign in lieu of termination?

Today was mylast day bittersweet but I look at it as one chapter ending and a new beginning will miss many of my colleagues but going to enjoy life more now. I truly know there will be life after citi and I am anticipating what lies ahead with excitement. I know I will find another job as will everybody who really wants one we have talent skills and abilities and we know what it takes. So one last thought dont worry be happy.

Have you ever quit a job? Chances are you have. Who's to say the your job can't quit you? At least citi gives you free money (severance package) when they ate the ones that quit. Dumb a$$3$ on her are talking about how "upper management" had something to do with this. Your talking about Pandit or former shot caller Prince then I guess I get it but this is not about senior management. Its about money! Ignorant and unreasonable people.
