You ought to do a story on Peru, IN taxes. I have been a landlord in Peru for almost 20 years. We own 33 properties in Peru. It has come to the point that it takes 4 - 5 months out of each year's rents to pay for the taxes. These increases in taxes will soon cause many if not most to let these properties go back to the banks.

There not going down any here east of Peru either. Just went up another $200. per year. We're all getting screwed by the state legislators some more. Both parties are guilty.

Call and get your estimates for your tax bill. While the tax rates did go down most tax bills are going up. Call and get an estimate

I am upset.

I thought that it was only Carmel who was getting our tax rate lowered and that it was because of the power and influence of the current Mayor Jim Diamond Brainard.

Only Carmel, should get the reduced tax rates, because only our Mayor asked for it.

However the rate will not necessarily reduce property taxes.

Another smooth operator job by Brainard.

OK, one basic question.

How come that the average tax rate in Carmel is about 1% of property, give or take (my old $300k home paid about $3.2k on average) yet the Hilbert mansion, valued at $20M, pays less than HALF of that rate, or $90k instead of 1% which would be $200k?

Am I missing something, or the place is really NOT worth $20M, or, just like Rolls Royces paying marginally more than Honda Accords, value based taxation be darned...
