17-year-olds can now get morning-after pill

Full story: Newsday

The Food and Drug Administration let politics cloud its judgment when it denied teenage girls over-the-counter access to the Plan B morning-after pill, a federal judge said Monday as he ordered the FDA to let 17-year-olds obtain the medication.

This is incredible! Minor, who aren't considered legal adults, are apparently too stupid to take a BC pill once per day, yet can obtain the "Oops"pill to cover up their initial mistake of non-protected sex? Guess sex education is non-existent, common sense is out the door, and the even dumber parents just shake their heads and say; 'what're you going to do, kids will make kids"? Minor do not have the legal rights of adults as they are NOT held responsible for their actions!!!Wake up America, we're as decadent as Europe.

I don't think 17 year olds should even be having sex, I may sound a bit old fashion and I am sure I will get quit a few not so nice responses to my post, but noone at that age should rush into having sex. That's just my 2 cents. =)

Not in new york. 17 is when they are allowed to consent to it.
I just hope young guys don't use this plan b as an excuse not to wear a condom. Just because plan B is out doesn't mean you can make the girl take it. Careful men!

And alcohol too! There shouldn't be any restrictions on alcohol or cigarette sales at all. In fact why should we make them go to school - its their minds as well as their bodies and they should be able to do what they want with them. Don't forget that they should be allowed guns also. Come on Liberal judges - don't just stop with the pill or you are a hypocrite!

As the parent of a 17 year old daughter, I disagree.

Unbelievable! A 17 year old could not get the most basic medical care withhout parental consent, and they cannot drink or smoke even with parental consent, but they can buy abortion pills! What a country!

Judge Korman is leading the way to Hell for a lot of people. He is responsible for the fornication that is ruining this country. How did he get to be a judge anyway. He shouldn't be a judge. He should be doing a job where all the decisions are made for him by a sensible god-fearing person.

I suppose you think we should go back to teaching only abstinence and factually incorrect and antiquated sex ed (like the do in Texas - no joke) as opposed to making all forms of birth control and safer sex available.

as opposed to getting an abortion? hell yeah. Welcome to reality, where 17 year olds, and even younger, are sexually mature with raging hormones to have sex.

Moron, the pill has minimal side effects, doesn't get the girl intoxicated, and does not have as many poisons like cigarettes, so what a dumb example

is this all you conservative scum have to argue, stupid arguments that have nothing to do with what you are arguing? Because other than your stupid religious beliefs, you have no argument against this.

They can get birth control, abortion pills, even abortions themselves. In my opinion it's a good thing. Now.. what I think is a bad thing is that it is easier for teens to get birth control that they WANT than it is to get a simple antibiotic, or medication that they NEED.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aries

There's a lot of tension in the air, with certain people poised to spit the dummy, as Mars turns retrograde in your fifth house of romance, children and speculation. Confrontations are likely. If these are nothing to do with you and you just happen to be directly in the firing line, your best bet is to make yourself scarce. But if you are responsible for their outraged feelings then you need to face the music, otherwise things will only get worse.
