Did anyone here that several congressmen were told that if they did NOT vote for the bailout, martial law would be declared???? That is wild and I hope, untrue.

A Democratic Congressman has warned that a panic atmosphere is being intentionally created in order to get the financial bailout billed passed, further stating that several members of Congress were told before Monday's vote that martial law will be instigated in America if the legislation fails.

Congressman Brad Sherman of California's 27th congressional district told the House in a speech yesterday evening that he personally knew of several Congressional representatives who have said they were threatened with the prospect of all out martial law should they vote in opposition to the $700 billion bailout.

Sherman essentially intimated that powerful forces who want the bill passed have attempted to blackmail elected representatives.

"The only way they can pass this bill is by creating and sustaining a panic atmosphere. That atmosphere is not justified." Sherman stated.

I was highly skeptical when I saw your source. I’m still skeptical but there may be some truth to what you’re posting.

Yes, the Huffington Post has been accused of telling lies and yes, they’ve told lies. But, this is a very serious allegation which I hope isn’t true or worse buried never to be visited again.

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed money more. I guess redistribution of wealth to some is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
I wish I had that $10. I could have paid a mortgage payment or car note.

Oh, I forgot.

Economy sucks for everybody me, the server, you and the homeless!

I was very skeptical, too, but it is being reported on multiple sources. I just happened to pick that one, yet I haven't heard anything from any major networks about it. I would love to know the truth. And I don't like to think Bush is that stupid, but who knows?

Try reducing "problems" to their lowest common denominator. The war wasn't the cause...9-11, was.
And, if you think this is a mess, revisit Jimmy Carter's history of economic boondoggles.
The war was the cause and still is the biggest problem. We should never have entered into that mess. And, we will only get worse if we continue in this. Jimmy Carter was held responsible for much that went on, but Republicans dominated the House and Senate and shot up and shot down every idea he had. I don't see why he is blamed for it. He never was allowed to get off the ground and the Democrats were as responsible as the Republicans. The both tore into him and ripped him to pieces.

No! No! NO! NOOOOO! The Obama Tax magicians are not accounting for the Bush tax cuts that will soon expire. And yes, Obama will let them expire. The final result is that we will all be paying more taxes under the Obama plan. Obama is all smoke and mirrors! Wise up! He won't tell anyone the entire truth. Obama is selling snake oil - that's what I think!

Nope, the ones who worked hard and acheived something are obviously against wealth distribution. And while they're too polite to say it, they loathe the parasitic blacks that make all black people look bad with their actions.

Iraq & Weapons Of Mass Destruction had nothing to do with 9/11/01. War on Iraq didn't start till 2003. That's an awfull slow responce to a 9/11/01 attack. Iraq war was & is over Revenge & oil. You know it & so does the rest of the world.

You know, I'm still not sure if the man is stupid or cunning, and he's been president for eight years.
I vacillate between thinking he was fooled into doing many stupid things by the likes of Cheney and others, then I run into evidence that he's really running things and tells Cheney where to get off.
He may be hiding a slickster behind a man who can't pronounce nuclear. He graduated from one of the best colleges, but was it really daddy that got him through?
If you go to see the movie "W", the riddle won't get any easier to solve, of course, the movie is another Stone interpretation of life.
If, for example he was behind the INS "leak" of Obama's auntie living in the U.S. as an illegal alien, then he's an evil genius. If it was Rove or some other person, then he remains a dupe.
In any event, he will be irrelevant in a few more days.

More than half of our checks are already going to the extremely lazy. Its called corporate welfare. The rich just sit there, collecting the fruits of our labor. If they want another boat, let them work for it. Why should I have to pay for a boat for them?

If the government got out of providing a massive supply of labor to keep our wages down, we would be earning what we should get, not artificially low salaries. Let the workers keep what they earn.
