I have heard about people getting fungus in their eyes from infected contact lenses and my doctors recommend washing our hands and lenses in "FungaSoap" by Pedifix. It is actually found in the Foot section of Walgreens stores. It works great on Athlete's foot too

you wouldn't want to wash the contact lenses in fungasoap! really you can't! it will damage the contact lenses and making it unwearable. only solutions can be used, just switch to other ReNu solutions or other brands. You can just wash your hand with it but wash your hand with fungaSoap first before washing with normal soap then handle your contact lenses.

FYI: FungaSoap is for use with your feets not hands.

Remember, a certain form of fungus that is mentioned in the news can be found in untreated soil, tap water, plants. You may want to be concerned about tap water. All eye doctors will tell you not to clean your contact lens with tap water! Don't leave your hand wet with tap water when putting on contact lens. completely dry it with lint-free towel throughly before putting on your lens. If you have solutions on your hand due to rinsing before putting on, it is okay but don't wash it off with water before putting on other len. just wipe them off with clean towel if necessary. make sure the lens is completely free of debris before putting. like for example, hold your lens on fingertip before your eye, inspect for it before continuing to insert it just to be sure it is clean because there may be lints floating around in the air in front of you.
