Overdrawn checking account and NSF

Hello, I sent a pre authoritized transaction charge to a company but my checking account is now in the negative (BMO). I was wondering if the money would be returned and I be charged a NSF fee by the bank or if my account would just stay in the negative (assuming I can't pay it off immediately as the expense was a mistake by the company). Thanks.
