Is it going to help all of the unemployed in America? Just exactly where will this money go? To someone elses pocket?

I figure it's thier money and they don't have to share it with anybody. So giving only half to whatever charity they choose will not hurt them financially, they still didn't have to give anything to anyone. Before anyone says it, no I am no where near being rich. I just know I don't have the right to tell them how to spend thier money. Good for them that they choose to help out a charity in a big way.

How much did you give to charity this year? All of your wealth? You want a joke, please, take a look in the mirror. These people have no reason to give anything at all. The very fact that they open up their finances like this speaks well of them.

They stole it from middle class American using the machinations of the free market. Investments, licensed and patented products.

They ought to some give back to those who made them rich.

They certainly don't have to do anything. It's THEIR money.

The way and means that they got it is more important than feeling good giving it away.

Classic literary example. Mark 12:41

41. And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44. For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

Hi Suezanne!

I would almost agree with you but it never goes to help anyone. It always goes for abstract things that go nowhere.

How about those 40 billionaires give their money to rebuild the ghettos in the major cities?

Or subsidize the entire public school system in Detroit/LA/NY?

I'm grateful they give. I'm more concerned how they got it. Gates running sweat shops and driving American developers out and hiring Indians?

Become a billionaire and do what you said they should do. After all, it is their money.

I realize people have the right to judge these people for what they do, but they earned the money, it's their say in the end.

Sorry, never read the all famous fiction novel, not interested in the least.

I'm standing up for these people. They don't have to give a dang thing. I'm no billionaire but I give time and money when I can to various events.

Again, no matter what you think, how much you complain, you can't tell them what to do with their money. If you don't like them for what they do, throw your computer out right now, it's operating system more than likely was invented by the company Bill Gates once lead.

I see your point, but I am just glad they give anything at all. When I studied Art History in college, I learned that the rich people during the Renaissance times 1500-1600's, they gave all their money to the churches and orphanages and hospitals right before they died, they wanted to save their souls.

As much as I dislike fatcats who cheat the system and steal from their employees like in the Enron case a few years back, and all the factories making our clothes over seas in poor factory working conditions for the immigrants working for pennies an hour . I will give them credit where it's due, may they give more to the needy in the future.

If you work for a company or yourself, you make money from other people's money. You get paid from other people's money. If you get rich or not is how efficient you are with it.

No, really. I was referring to all the scams out there too that some rich business folks take from people. Glad they could give some back.

Here is how I read this, I give half of my fortune to your charity ,and you give half of your fortune to my charity. Then we write it off on our tax's , and we still have all of our money, and we can still cut benefits to the employees that are making us all of our money!

I'm glad they are donating. Especially Bill gates, he can afford to with all the money he is making with compatibility issues with computers. Whenever a computer is upgraded with a new chip or operating system, the computer you had for maybe 4 years is useless, cannot buy any programs for it, so you have to go out and buy all new equipment again.

People jump when something new comes out, like these iphones. The 1st is no different than the 4th.
