Fantastic. This must be a direct result of the Stimulus program, collective bargaining and Obamacare. Way to go Barack !!

So instead of giving their employees raises for the last two years, the company has spent billions on future jet sales when the market for fractional jet ownership dwindles by the day back to whole ownership, charter or commercial flight.

Sounds like strong fiscal thinking there. Not!

NOT THAT I AM OR EVER WAS IN A POSITION TO RENT A PRIVATE PLANE BUT IF I WERE THE POWERS TO BE IN A COMPANY WHO MADE THOSE DECISIONS I WOULD NOT LOOK KINDLY ON A COMPANY THAT DOES NOT BUY AMERICAN.
IN A TIME OF DEEP FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES...
$6.7 BILLION FOR AMERICAN PRODUCTS WOULD BE A DEAL MADE IN HEAVEN FOR AN AMERICAN AIRPLANE COMPANY.
SHAME ON THIS COMPANY AND SHAME ON THE DECISION MAKERS WHOSE LOYALTY IN CERTAINLY QUESTIONABLE.
IN FACT......I'D REQUIRE ALL EMPLOYEES TO FLY COMMERCIAL. UNITED, U.S. AIR, S/WEST, AMERICAN, DELTA. CAN'T GET THERE BY ONE OF THESE CARRIERS ? MAYBE WE REALLY DIDN'T NEED TO GO.

If I recall correctly, the engines are American made. Those don't exactly cost pennies.

The American aircraft manufacturers may not trust the company enough to give them a really good deal. You just never know until the real story comes out, usually years later.

Do you have any idea of the types of planes that they are buying? They are small jets. The only US company that makes the type of jets they are making is Gulfstream. However, the gulfstream jets cost slightly more than 10% more the Embrarer and the CRJ's they are buying and they do not have the range of those planes.
