I was recently given this by a friend, who bought it years (c 20) ago. He hasn't used it for many years and no longer has the manual for it.

Can anyone supply me with a manual, or at least tell me how to feed the line through to the rotating head.

Just repairing one. The line comes through hole in reel housing straight down to small hole in top of handle then push line until it appears in the bottom.
If does not want to go then you will have to remove cover on bottom ( three screws ) you will see an tubular elbow (called a flared elbow) check for wear as it might have worn away in corner. You can still buy these PN 828996 about £4.50 plus pp from any B & D spares shop and others
