Why You Should QUIT Your Job
...if you work for BAE Systems
“A war profiteer is any person or organization that profits from warfare or by selling weapons and other goods to parties at war.”– Wikipedia (definition of a war profiteer)
If you are an employee or a contractor of BAE Systems, you should quit your job. The people who are investing in and controlling the company you work for are making heaps and heaps of money from the suffering of human beings all over the world. They sell bombs and weapons to nations all over the world and many, many civilians end up being killed or maimed, or psychologically scarred when those weapons are used. Peoples’ societies and livelihoods are torn down by military activity. The people you are making profits for are not loyal to any one nation, but play nations against each other so that they can make more money from the conflict that ensues. They are not interested in peace. War is their goal, even if there is no real reason for it. That is the simple truth. By working for these people, these investors, and by making your living from their scraps, you are complicit in the whole situation. But you can change that, simply by quitting your job and finding some other more constructive thing to do. Please have some compassion on the victims of war. Please quit your job ASAP. Thanks.
If you are by chance a Christian, Catholic or follower of Christ, here are some more reasons why you should quit your job. These are teachings that Jesus gave to his disciples that he expected them to follow. If you consider yourself a disciple of Jesus then these teachings apply to you.
“But I say to you who hear me; Love your enemies and do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you and pray for those who abuse you. To someone who strikes you on the cheek, offer him the other also...”
“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. If you only love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them...”
“But love your enemies, and do good to them... and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.”
“ Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge and you will not be judged; do not condemn and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven...”
None of these teachings are compatible with the making, supporting, or profiteering of war in any way. Instead they call every human being to commit themselves to a lifestyle of peace and non-violence. Hopefully you can fulfil this call. Our prayers will be with you.
PEACE BE WITH YOU
“Many peoples will come and say ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the god of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.’ The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.
Come, house of Jacob. Let us walk in the light of the LORD”- Isaiah 2:3-5
