This sucks big time.
Who cares, most are here illegally now and we support them via Welfare, they will get a "Free Pass" and not be charged along with all of the other "Free Loaders" getting Welfare. The working stiff again will be required to pay their fees.

Socialism, nothing like it....

KEEP voting for Socialist Liberals, the "Free Loaders" depend on them.....

Many people are keeping it at home. Especially after losing so much in the stock market. Also many are taking it out of the bank and finding a safe place at home due to not making any interest so to speak of in their money market accounts and also not knowing one day to the next if they have employment and then will be able to have a place to live. This is the "Middle Class" and some what of those on a lower incomes the working people, those on unemployment, etc. and those who are in retirement who have earned their pay. Because when you have paid your dues all these years and it comes a time you need government help it is not there if you own a home or most times have a small bank account from anywhere of $100.00 to a couple thousand that you need to keep in the bank your rent or mortgage in bad times. Everyone has their hand in your pocket when you are working on have earned the income to help yourself. But when you need the help it is not there.

All of you have NO CLUE! You would think by now you wouldn't listen to the lies told by the media. Why don't you actually call or go in to BoA and ask them if they have free checking. I have banked there for years and have never paid for checking and after talking with BoA found out that the media as usual has blowed things way out of proportion. I am a proud BoA customer!

Members 1st charges a fee if you want to cash a check payed to you from one of their accounts/members. A check drawn on their bank. It is a $2.00 fee if the person cashing the check is not a member of their CU.

Since most tellers in York make $10.00 an hour or less, this is especially insulting.

Go to Walmart and cash checks for $3.00. Or go to Metro and have a free checking account. Plus there are many other banks out there that have free checking.

I guess the billions of bailout money and all the liars loans originated by Countrywide were all fantasy as well? Along with the depression that then ensued when all those loans blew up? Keep drinking the kool aid.

Yep. Those financial institutions got away with it during the bailouts. And now they still expect their customers to continue paying. If you get to steal once and you are rewarded or just given a slap on the hand then you will steal again with no loss of sleep. Just what these Financial Giants are continuing the process. A law of ethics or what.

I haven't went to a teller in 10 years even though it was free. I have direct deposit and a money card, why would I need to go into a bank?

I work for Bank of America. And no, Im not anyone important or anyone that gets anything from scamming customers, Im just a teller... low man on on the todem pole.

FOR the RECORD: Weve ALWAYS charged 8.95 per month for an account.(And not EVERY account has that fee attatched to it) This is not something new. It seems that they're targeting us for our new EBanking account, which was designed as a way for customers to AVOID fees. That 8.95 per month helps to manage the cost of your account, such as paying tellers to assist in your transactions, and the light bill it takes to run a banking center.

EBanking is designed to help reduce the cost of your account, so the bank can pass the savings along to you, in the form of no fees. Monthly fees are not new to ANY bank, but EBanking is which I feel is a great alternative if you want to reduce fees & do a lot of stuff online on your own, that the bank would be paying employees to do. I appreciate the option actually, and NO Im not getting paid to say that.

First of all the original post is incorrect. BofA is only going to charge to visit a teller if you have their eChecking account which is entirely free because it must be opened online/client must bank online. Secondly when the goverment comes in and sets price caps on what fees banks can charge and to whom they can charge them then it is only natural to expect banks to increase fees across the entire population. It is socialism at its best - just what you get from big Democrat goverment. Lastly BofA's account can still be free with direct deposit,$1500 average daily balance, etc. Gone are the days of banks being able to give away accounts to those who do not truely use them. Someone has to pay for the Trillions of dollars of infastructure banks have built in this country allowing us to be one of the most powerful economies in the world. If you don't want to pay for a checking account. Take your chances on getting mugged, try paying all your bills with cash, borrow money from your friends and see how all that works out for ya. It is so stupid to hear people winning about paying a monthly fee for a checking account. It is like someone saying well I shouldn't have to pay to ride the subway because it is already built and it. Stop socialism and hate research things before you build an opinion!

Why not try going back and looking at the making homes affordable act signed by president Clinton in the late 90's then try to attack the banks for making loans to people who can't afford it. That is what Big Brother told them to do!
