Mr. Parker's rejection of his bonus was the proper thing to do under the circumstances, and certainly made for good headlines. But I wonder how much the other executives received? Remember, at AA Arpey did not participate in their bonus scheme either, but approx.$70M is to be paid out to 1000 other execs, and the rank and file are going ballistic, rightfully so in my opinion. As I have said in other forums here, few if any airline execs (any execs in any industry for that matter) today seem willing to spend a career working for the long-term success of their company. A few years, a golden parachute, and out. What I'm hearing is, "If I don't give my execs these bonuses, they will all quit and chase a buck elsewhere." Pilots, F/A's, mechanics, and many others have little or no opportunity to make lateral moves within the industry...they have to stick it out through thick and thin. Why shouldn't the execs? They ALL prosper, or the ALL suffer. I don't see this as socialistic (I'm certainly NOT that) or utiopian, just fair.

He will get the bonus somehow somewhere. It will be called a retention payout-not a bonus-..
