ThinkAboutIt wrote: Yeah, those protesters who dumped the tea in Boston Harbor were REAL losers. And all those protesters who took a stand against slavery, well, what can you say? They should've gone out and gotten jobs. Same goes for the people who protested against Jim Crow laws and denying others the right to vote or the right to use the same water fountain as every other citizen. And all those anti-tax protesters? Jeez. They're the WORST. They need to get jobs AND take a good long bath. Protesters.... Who needs 'em? None of those are analogous for many reasons: First and foremost- none served as useful idiots of national enemies....and there's a definate reason tax protests are held on weekends...thinkaboutit

Owl Gore wrote: Obama Might ‘Refine’ Iraq Timeline (Liar Obama throws all anti-war folks under the bus) http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/03... FARGO, N.D.– Senator Barack Obama said Thursday the United States cannot sustain a long-term military presence in Iraq, but added that he would be open to “refine my policies” about a timeline for withdrawing troops after meeting with American military commanders during a trip to Iraq later this month. Mr. Obama, whose popularity in the Democratic primary was built upon a sharp opposition to the war and an often-touted 16-month gradual timetable for removing combat troops, dismissed suggestions that he was changing positions in the wake of reductions in violence in Iraq and a general election fight with Senator John McCain.“I’ve always said that the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed,” he said.“And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I’m sure I’ll have more information and will continue to refine my policies.” Read more at thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com ... Big Daddy $oro$ ain’t goin to be happy about this! Given Obama's treatment of the Muslim women to create the perfect and precious photo op has made me sensitive to such photos. I noticed some VFW caps, and if I'm not mistaken, they were exploting an amputee to get the perfect pic. I was kinda suprised Barry didn't show up in an cap with ear flaps....being it was Fargo.....

I thought organized, nonviolent protests were gone with the 60's. Jonah, please tell your sister that I applaud her effort. I'm not completely in agreement with the group's statement, but I respect the way in which they peacefully protested. Zen

Hate to break it to you Jonah but chaining yourself to an entrance is NOT fresh. It's a tactic that's been around a long time. And usually it has the very same effect that it had for your sister....having attention put more on the people chaining themselves to the door than to their cause. As a tactic it's ineffective. It tends to turn people off so they won't even listen to what the protesters have to say.

Wonder where all these kids parents work? I hope they have good jobs. They will be supporting those kids for a while.... Do these children realize that companies do "background checks" before they are hired? Good luck Moms and Dads! You should be so proud that your children CONTRIBUTE to society and have respect, resourcefullness, and responsibility...LOL!

Zen Peacefully protesting does not shut down Main Street, it does not require Police and Fire and peaceful protests do NOT get arrested...How can you even think that was peaceful?

I was not there and am going upon the article as written, and to me it reads as a peaceful protest. Was anyone injured? Did violence ensue? No? Then it was peaceful. The inconvenience of shutting down Main Street hardly discounts the fact that it was, indeed, a peaceful protest. And yes, peaceful protestors do get arrested if they've not gotten proper authorization to conduct such a protest or sit-in. It may not have been the most novel of ideas to express their views, but these anti-war folks are utilizing the last great American right to protest. Misguided, maybe, but at least they are doing something rather than what we here do: a whole lot of nothing but talking about it!

Silly us for remaining law abiding and using other venues and avenues to voice our distaste at whatever may irk us. These clowns have no problems complaining about their rights, but have no problem pissing all over ours.

I hardly think a citation for unlawful assembly or even an arrest for disturbing the peace is going to cost any one of those protestors a job. Pardon my vague stereotype, but I'll conclude that these are people who would choose to work in services/industries that laud such behavior.

You can never plan your futur far enough ahead to know if it will affect you or not. I did not make my career change until well into my 30's. A prior unlawfull assembly charge would have eliminated me from getting my job. Also you may have a change in views based on life experience. While I graduated high school a Dem, based on family teachings, I am now a Republican. If I had made decisions based on my beliefs at the time, they could have affected my future choices. Also, what if you decide on a normar career such as accounting. You cant work for companies like Honeywell, 3M, ect...based on Gov. contracts and work with the military. why would they want to hire somebody that had previously been willing to go to jail to stop that company from doing business. IMHO, it is just a better idea not to go to jail for any reason. Just dont break the law and you dont have to worry about it.
