Aol 9.7 software

I have been using AOL 9.7 for sometime now with no problems, a couple of days ago it would not sign in, I just thought it was the system down, however it still wont sign in to AOL I can access AOL email etc from an external browser but not using the 9.7 software.
I have tried all the help from the aol page including removing the software and reinstalling it,
when I did this it did let me sign in as a new user but as soon as I put my username back in it fails to sign in. The sign in page goes from looking for AOL via TCP/IP (STEP1) to connecting to TCP/IP (STEP 2) then checking password (STEP3) then it just times out and fails to connect the error says AC 3002 0x84100113.
I cant seem to find anything else on the problem to try and resolve this any help would be great
