*MWRITE formatting in a macro

Hello all,

I am trying to write a fairly general macro to output nodal results using the *MWRITE command. The one thing I cannot figure out is how to use input parameters (arguments) when calling the macro to change the FORTRAN formatting of the *MWRITE command. I have tried something like the following code, but I get a "format syntax error":

bb ='F12.6'
*MWRITE,narray,mydata,dat
(bb)

When I remove the parameter bb and manually enter the formatting, the *MWRITE command works the way I want it to. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to make this work?

Thanks
