UNABLE TO START THE MECHANICAL EDITOR
My system is Win7 professional 64bit and the software is ANSYS13.0.
When I try to go from DM to Mechanical appear a fast a window that say: AnsysWBU.exe encountered a problem. A diagnostic file has been written: C:\DOCUME~1\carlo\IMPOST~1\Tem p\AnsysWBDumpFile.dmp, but I do not understand, also a I have a " microsoft visual c++ runtime library" problem.
I have try everything to solve the problem(reinstall windows 7, shut down anti virus and firewall,update the graphic drives..)I do not know how to solve this problem, the funy thing is that the first time I installed it was fine, but after 3 week it suddenly broke down.
Please I need help
Hi, had exactly the same problem but used the following tip (though for V13)
"
Hey,we solved the problem (or to be more precise, ANSYS Support Team sorted me out). In my case, it turned out, the error occured due to overwriting of some files after my operating system installed a couple of updates. The updates triggered the script error that hindered mechanical in the workbench to open.How we solved it? We got rid of the old Workbench 12.0 profile and allowed it to reconstruct a new one. How: 1. renamed the '.ansys' directory in %temp% to 'ansys_old' 2. renamed the 'ansys12.0' and 'v120' directories in %appdata% directory to 'ansys12.0_old' and 'v120_old' resp. 3. restarted simulation in workbench 4. carry on simulations like nothing happenedHave a lot of fun!
"
-only diference was I reoved the 3 ansys realted folders that I saw in the "temp" folder. Seems like windows updates disrupt this folder

Install the System environment variable ANS_OLD_ATTACH = 1

Advanced system settings / Environment variables
On System variables select -> New
On variable name -> ANS_OLD_ATTACH
On variable value -> 1

OK & Save

I was told that this problem can be solved by creating a new environment value named "ANS_OLD_ATTACH"=1 in you computer.

Just shut down the firewall in your windows and your firewall software which you have installed .
Good luck to everyone!

hello dear friends,

When I try to start mechanical editor, Ansys give error as below:
"unable to start to mechanical editor"

I wonder what should system variables be for ansys 14 ?

Thanks in advance.

Keep a pinch of salt handy today because not everything you hear will be the gospel truth. Someone might have manipulated the facts to make them sound more acceptable, or they may have got carried away and forgotten to tell you something rather vital. Try to keep misunderstandings to a minimum by being as straightforward and honest as possible, and by not simply assuming that people know what you're talking about and therefore not bothering to explain properly.
