That girl better not get a dime. How ridiculous!

"It is unlawful for employers to treat applicants or workers differently based on their religious beliefs or practices in any aspect of employment"

I'd say they weren't treating her different- they were treating her exactly like every other employee- take off the flippin' scarf and follow our dress code or find someplace else to work.

They didn't base their hiring decision on her religion, they based it on her refusal to follow what is really an obvious policy for that retailer. If the policy conflicts with her beliefs, that's her problem not the business's. While an employer shouldn't base a hiring decision solely on religion, it should not be required to make concessions to accommodate them, either. In my opinion, if the store said "we'll hire you, but you can't wear the scarf", then they did absolutely nothing wrong.

If you don't like the employer's policies then find someplace else to work. It's completely unreasonable to expect an employer to change the rules on account of your beliefs.

Isn't there a clothing store that she would be a better fit than Abercrombie & Fitch, like Abbudin & Fawzi's?

A&F is well known as a retailer catering to the racist element of society. I hope the teen sues A&F for millions, how dare an American corporation engage in such ignorant, hateful, and racist behavior in this day and age. The company needs to be severely punished to send a warning to the other racists out there that their hate will not be tolerated.

I hope A & F Sues this woman for defamation and attempting to intimidate an American Business. There are rules that apply to all and those coming to enjoy the freedoms which we offer, need to understand the rules apply to all, even those with differing religious view.

Seems strange that she'd want to work at an A&F if she's religiously observant. Isn't the hijab about modesty, and isn't A&F just about the most immodest retailer in their advertising and store displays? Will she next apply for a job at (and sue) Hooter's?

Please show me where race is the issue here. It appears to me that if anything it has to do with religious issues - racism has nothing to do with it.

"It seeks undisclosed monetary and non-monetary losses resulting from "emotional pain, suffering, anxiety, loss of enjoyment of life, humiliation and inconvenience."

What a crock of sh## this is. I'm real sure that poor 17 year old had a "loss of enjoyent of life" because she didnt get hired at a clothing store.
Maybe she wasn't as qualified? nah couldnt be better sue.

This company has problems. It was earlier this week I read they are facing a lawsuit for not allowing a disabled individual to have help in the dressing room.
You may disagree with discrimination laws, but like this company, you will eventually pay for it.

So freedom means doing whatever a corporation tells you to do? Sheesh, get up off your knees you spineless salad-tosser.

Back in the day, people stood up to corporations. Kinda sad what pathetic wusses Americans have turned into.

When you work in a clothing store, don't you have to wear clothes from that store? I just can't see this girl wearing the fashionable clothes that are sold in that store. Next thing you know one of these girls that wear veils to cover their faces is going to sue Hooters for discrimination. Or maybe her brother will sue Famous Dave's for discrimination because he wants a job there but doesn't want to be near pork. How about suing Joe Senser because you want a job waiting tables but you don't want to be near alcohol because it's against your religion. Where does it end?

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Taurus

If your goals are fairly modest in the short term, they are achievable and you're likely to get some praise for achievements along the way. If you aim too high too quickly, others might not take you seriously or think you're being uppity and you could come unstuck. It's all a question of attitude and approach. There are contradictory influences over the next ten days but there could also be good luck coming your way.
