Yes our esteemed minister of health said that the cure lies in garlic and beetroot and a good diet.

and or president refused to admit that Aids is caused by HIV.

The reasons for this refusal are of course economic.
Just think of the expense if they had to put milions of people on anti-retrovirals.

If only it were that simple and miraculous. Garlic is really delicious and has many benefits. Too bad one of them is not to cure AIDS.:(

I heard that in Africa they took the younger girls away because they thought that if they did it with a virgin they wouldn't have HIV anymore. Is there any truth to that??

Yes. I'd forgoten about that.(Perhaps because it was just too awful to think about.)

Men were having sex with girls, even with babies, supposedly to cure themselves of AIDS.

Obviously this particular ignorance makes the ingnorace about garlic seem positively benign.

There used to be this great documentary show on PBS called "American High" that followed a bunch of High School students around.

In one of the episodes, a boy complained to his Dad about his very unfashionable car "Man, I can't pick up chicks in this old K-Car station wagon!"

And without missing a beat, the Dad answered "Son I bought you that car precisely so you WOULDN"T be able to pick up chicks."

The banter between that kid, who's name was Morgan, and his Dad was always hysterical. I really wish that show was available on DVD.

So, if you want to prevent your son from getting a STD, buy him an old Mini-Van (which is the modern version of an old station wagon). You'll ruin his social life, but he won't get a STD.

What they really should do, is ban the males from from having sex with chimpanzees, Thats how HIV started.( well they believe it came from blood)

The only thing I can think of which you might be referring to is the Tuskegee Syphilis Study.

There some researchers studied poor sharecroppers who already had Syphilis, but they really didn't treat them for it (which is why this study is considered unethical today). And this all took place from the early 1930s thru the early 1970s.

You are correct, I never heard anything on the news about the HIV, But then again you can't believe much any station reports..
