Under Pressure, Canada to Remove U.S. From Torture List

Last week CTV revealed that the United States and Israel had been put on a list that they give to their diplomats during a "torture awareness workshop," warning of countries in which they may face torture.

The USA tortures people. Fact.

I guess the Canadians are afraid we'll kidnap some of their people and torture them. Valid fear.

I'm not sure which way to go with this topic. So let me pick on both of the countries. The US as proven by pictures taken in the past does resort to torture.

Should the US be on a torture list??? For me the answer is simple, if you are a country that supports terrorist activities, then yes the US should be on your torture list. Who knows we might capture your so called diplomat committing crimes against US interest.

I don't mind being on anyones torture list, but I hope your country doesn't get mad when I put you on my terrorist list or I identify you as my one of the axis of evil.

Mind you this goes the same if a country puts Isreal on their torture list. Isreal is a country surrounded on all sides by countries that would like to see it destroyed.

I guess the choice is simple - you either torture people or you don't. Choose but please don't tell a damn lie to the world when you choose torture. Tell everyone they are at risk in the US and in other countries of being picked up for no cause - incarcerated and tortured in a foreign country and not have any rights at all along the way. US citizens should probably be aware of what the law is in "our sky is falling world of antiterrorism" and how it can apply to us. Even a patriot can be a terrorist - just depends on what your point of view is and what you want someone to admit.

I went to the website with the article and read it. I thought it was funny that the best they could do was put the little female with the belt around the guys neck on the front. It tells me that as a nation that tortures we need to work on how the world sees us. I felt like with that picture the US torture program looks weak.

If I was in office I would force the media to print real torture pictures not the let me play house one. I want people to fear me, not laugh at me.

You all are acting like the US tortures every person we interrogate. The US has used advanced 'torture' techniques on a handful of individuals.

Good post. The picture shows a Soldier that decided to take the role of torture in her own hands for little if any benefit.

thats so weird, the little chick with the guy on the leash is way too bizarre, that whole incident was insane, I think the troops were just bored and did mean things just to do it, not like they were getting info from it, they just did it to do it

The US IS a terrorist country. We've killed at least 150,000 Iraqis, most of whom were just innocent bystanders.

Didn't say there weren't any. What I said was I don't want the US to appear like a WHUSS so show a real torture picture.

Ok, so who was he? Why would the US torture him? Or could it be that he was on an international watch list and was finally apprehended by US authorities and handed over to the proper authorities?
