To make up for Amedisys wrong doing the people being punished are the staff who work for them. Offices being closed, staff being changed from salary to per visit, threats of changing from full time to prn, with benifits being eliminated, if they can not keep there productivity up. That is hard to do when the business has taken such a hit that there is not enough business to be shared among the staff. Another example of how a company will step on the backs of the employee's to get them to the top and the minute a cut must be made it is the same staff they were so happy to being using as the step on that ladder to the top that they now eliminate and have no use for. Really, do they think anyone will ever trust them again after all this. No one could ever work for them and feel secure in the job they have. Everyone is disposable, ask Larry Graham.

This company is headed for a great fall. The writing is on the wall. They have eliminated some VP's that were good leaders but they also got rid of some that were horrible leaders (T Ledgerwood) They don't care if you put your heart & soul into your agency if they don't like you, your GONE. Beware!!! The fall is coming!! It's such a shame too because this company started out with the right thing in mind... providing quality of care but somewhere that got lost & the love of money took over.

On 1-4-2011 Amedisys changed many full time Nurses and Therapists from full time status to part time with 12 days notice. We were told to expect no further visits and that insurance benefits would be terminated. Is this happening in other states.Be aware this company does not value its employees.

I am an Occupational Therapist with 16 years of experience. Plainly put, I am sooo relieved to be gone from Amedisys. It is the WORST company I have ever worked for in terms of the way they treat their employees. They deserve everything they are getting.

Well a nurse that works for Amedisys in Athens, Tennessee got arrested for aggravated assualt! Stayed overnight in jail, bonded out for $10,000.00 and still got to keep her job.....I wouldn't want this nurse taking care of one of my family members! Would you?

Oh, an aide and her fiance stole equiptment from an agency that was closing, the aide kept her job. Equiptment found at her house, video showed both going into office and then only fiance returning later with the key and walking out with equiptment in a bag. And again, this aide still has her job. What is wrong with this company? I wouldn't want any of these employees to come in my family's home.

I agree with this post. I was this employee almost a year ago demoted from CM to field nurse and lost my salary to per visit. Bad business and poor care. They need to be shut down.

I agree that this company does not care about their employees. I think that before their employees can do a good job they need to be treated right. All I ever heard was negativity and a CM told me that my pay was the least of her concerns

I am personally glad to see that health care professionals are waking up to what Amedisys is all about! I worked for them for 2 years and never heard about all the long hours of dedicated work I was putting in, or all the hours spent at night doing their endless documentation; just about all the nit-picky things I was doing wrong. They could not keep a therapist for more than 6 months and now that I am working for another company, we are getting tons of former Amedisys patients because Amedisys has lost most of their staff. I am tempted to say, "It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy" (er, company). Amedisys is the greediest, most hypocritical company I have every worked for, hands-down, and also the most employee-unfriendly.

I agree wqith everything said above. I recently was "let go" from Amedisys for "turning papers in in an untimely fashion." The problem is that the office is so disorgainzed that papers lay around everywhere. It was a new admission that I was told they didn't get paid for. She died a few hours after I COMPLETED THE SCADS OF PAPERWORK. Was told to rewrite the admit from memory and turn it in after being on vacation. When I got back was informed that was the reason I was being let go.. I was then sent a n exit card that doesn't connect to any web site for my opinions. Guess they really didn't want to know

I began working as a Case Manager in January. I went there thinking I could make a difference in my patient's lives. I went there due to blind trust of a acquaintance. I have never cried so much in my life as I have these past 7 months mostly due to frustration and total exhaustion. I can kick myself everyday for leaving my former job for this company. The long long hours you are required to do, on-call hours after working all day and on weekends, no support staff to assist. Promises made that are not kept. They still ask for more. I am desperately trying to find another job. I really had high hopes for this position; now that is replaced with despair.

I was working two RN areas of the county sometimes driving as much as 2-3 hours going from one end of the county to the other. This took away from my charting as I only had time to get from on patient to the next with minimal doumentation, charting to be completed at the end of the day! I ended up doing at least 2 hours extra a day finishing my charting. I was refused overtime and told that I was expected to finish in 8 hours regardless of the fact that I was covering 2 seperate RN areas and driving 2-3 hours a day. I ended up hospitalized and was called while in the hospital by my boss feigning concern and compassion. I know this was insincere because when I returned home from the hospital I found a Fed Ex packagewith termination papers. They had fired me on my first day of hospitalization and revoked all insurance coverage. Bet no one can top that for "Worst employee treatment ever!"

I worked in the office for several years, and I can tell you, it was like being thrown to the sharks. Very little training; they expect to toss a laptop in front of you, give you a 15 minute run-through of everything, and that's it. When you make a mistake, you are ridiculed, made to feel like it's your fault you don't know what your doing(even though you weren't properly taught), and the part that really made me mad-- you end up being blamed for things you have no control over, they will write you up for it, and you're the last employee in the whole office to know about it. They all shake their heads and talk about how horrible you are behind your back for days before you even know about it! The BOM runs the DOO, and is the reason several people have quit because she is so tyrannical. Several employees called good ol' boy Jeter's hot-line to turn her in for her verbal and mental abuse. You know what they did? Gave her a bonus!! A lot of offices are run this way inside Amedisys. I wouldn't want anyone to work there. Waking up at night with panic attacks isn't worth the crappy paycheck they give you.

"No fear of retribution" is a complete joke. I witnessed shady things going on at the office. Reported all concerns and the DOO knew who and what was said before the day was gone. The DOO was then verbally and mentally abusive to me. Others did the same with the same result. Patients are being discharged but will be picked up within the next month so that it can count for the new admissions that month. The DOO gets on the phone to the nurse in the doctors office and the nurse gives the DOO names of patients. The DOO calls the patient and talks them into calling the doctors office to ask for home health. Oh, and what about the DOO who gives out all the fringe benefits to get prominence in the community. Show lots of cleavage, wear halter tops, bare backs and skin tight pants.
Amedisys was such a good company to begin with. This makes me sick!

indured 6 months of this life sucking job.worked an 8 hour shift of visits, 6 to 8 then went home and spent the rest of the day charting on the laptop. up again at 5 am to finish charting. 5 days a week of this, then having to work an occational weekend without time off during the week. This equals no life at all. I have never in my 20 years of working had a job that expected you to give up your life! they can't keep employees for more than a few months. I can't understand how they keep any at all. i don't have time to search for anther job even! so i'm just done! will warn others not to go there to work

I quit them three years ago after seeing their motto of " it is legal it is ethical". Guess recent revelations of the Medicare Fraud confirmed my reason for leaving. They were the worst company for employee treatment I have ever experienced. Per visit pay looked good on paper but you never had enough patients or close enough to justify staying. They sent you all over the county and then didn't pay for your mileage if you didn't take the shortest route..........by their map ! They drag you in for meetings and to drop off your "paperwork", schedules and notes needing to be downloaded but that is on your time and they did not pay time or mileage to do this..........coming or going. They did pay you 1/4 your visit rate for a meeting but then they prorated the time you were there. If you got $50.00 a visit and the meeting only took 15 minutes you got 25% OF $50.00 AND THEN 25% of that sum, so you just didn't get paid the mileage to the meeting or the next patient. So your meeting reimbursement was now $3.13. Being homebound was not important them as long as you saw them at home they considered it legit. I had patients going out to lunch daily with their family, and one guy was going to his business every morning and their answer to this was to schedule PM appointments, when they were home !
Was not worth my license or sanity to stay on so I left, and now I am glad I departed.

WOW! I worked for that very office and it had the saddest staff I ever saw: working overtime for free, I was contracted there through Arnica, and I was hourly, well, staff was per visit and they were seeing unbelievable #s of pts, and I was expected to do that too, for FREE! And we were not allowed to discharge anyone without calling the so called rehab director first! And they said, you have to do this vestibular testing and I quote "if they even twitch an eye, pick them up" This so called rehab manager fell asleep during a meeting! I had no training in the software program, nor in their special vestibular program! I refused to work for free, so we went our separate ways before the contract ended! I also worked for the office in Oneida, TN and they were honest, loving people, so the office got closed!!!!!!!!!!
