The Supreme Court and Alaska’s Zyprexa Case
Wall Street Journal Blogs, NY - 6 minutes ago
Why did the state of Alaska settle its Zyprexa case against Eli Lilly for only $15 million, a pittance for a big drug maker and a fraction of the $200 ...

BIG!!

The settlement came days before a jury trial was set to wrap up. Three of the 12 jurors were leaning toward Lilly and the rest were for the state, the Anchorage Daily News reports. But those in the minority would likely have shifted their positions during deliberations, one of the jurors who favored Lilly told the paper.

If the jury found in favor of the state, a second jury would have determined the damages, the paper notes

My son was also a casualty of Zyprexa. He had been on the drug for about seven years. Over the past six years he has had recurring bouts of pancreatitis. He was hospitalized repeatedly and also was cared for in the ER numerous times. He also developed diabetes while on the drug.

On March 1, 2008, his pancreatitis finally took his life. This episode was so intense that all his organs (lungs, pancreas, kidneys, and liver) completely shut down. He was on life support for six days.

Our son was thirty-four years old. I sincerley hope Eli Lilly has to pay out enough money as to force them to stop producing this drug. Zyprexa is a very deceiving drug in that it works so well. It helped our son to live a realitively normal life. Little did we know it was in fact killing him.

I pray that no other parents have to watch what my husband and I have just watched.

I took Klonopin and Paxil for 15 years to treat my anxiety disorder. I had to detox from the Klonopin this past spring. I got off the Klonopin and switched my Paxil to Lexapro (sex side effect issue). I am also a recovering alcoholic. My doctor did not want me on Benzo's anymore (says it increased alcohol cravings). I stayed on Lexapro only for 9 months, but my anxiety came back strong on just the Lexapro alone. I almost resorted to taking Xanax before I switched doctors. My new doc gave Zyprexa from http://z-olanzapine.com a chance. I am on my 7th day and I haven't felt this "normal" in 5 years. I take 5mgs at night and it has ended the "chatter" in my head, and removed my anxiety. Great medicine so far.
