yeaaaaah! well, the missionaries alexanders and the baldwins have been sitting pretty since they stole all these lands from the Hawaiians. with no regards or kokua for the native hawaiians, now they see how it feels to lose their okole by being greedy. the biggest deceivers of these islands and their lies as the God Almighty will see who deserves these lands.(Besides, sugar is the culprit for all of society's diseases!)

I had thought the A&B sugar operation was going to convert to producing ethanol for gas supplements, rather than continue with sugar exclusively. One more way for HI to become less dependent on outside resources.

Surprised no mention of rezoning for luxury condos this time. We always see the big headlines that they lose money on sugar and then their bogus solutions to cement over with gated luxury condos seem to magically follow.

Riiiight. The missionaries were the greedy emissaries of evil -- and Hawaii would be much better off having been claimed by North Korea or China.

Does anyone seriously think that Hawaii would have stayed sovereign if the US hadn't found it?

Imagine if Hawaii had just been discovered today: the islands would be taken over by whomever found them. With no technology or viable means of defense (spears aren't much use against napalm), the native Hawaiians should be thankful that a benign country like the United States was the first one to stake a claim here. Countries who are hostile to the US would certainly find strategic value in establishing a military base here (just as the US does to keep an eye on hostiles).

It's nice to dream of a wonderful world without the US, but reality would be MUCH different than your dream, and much more horrible.
