On 11/26/12 it didn't list the age. Thank you for being so observant!

Perhaps 29 means "unintended death", as in they didn't mean to pass away at the rest stop.

What a shock this must be for family. RIP

Exactly - my theory:
Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Kept engine running to keep warm,
fell asleep - small amounts of CO leaking into cabin over
several hours.

An "unattended death" is a rather well used term in the Emergency Services. This simply means the deceased subject was not around or near family members or persons who would have witnessed the death. It doesn't have a secret meaning or infer any suggestions of anything. VSP uses the term all the time in reference to such situations.

True enough, but like any term associated with, and used by,a comparatively small group, its` use should be explained, by any good reporter. I can, for instance say to you, "go slug that round",which is a term used in military rocketry, and you probably wouldn`t understand its` meaning. Poor reporting.

Please remind your station's reporters to explain terms that aren't common in the vernacular here, such as "unattended death" which is an exclusive term in the emergency services.

UPDATE: The body found at the I-64 rest area has been identified as 33-year-old James A. Randle of Waynesboro. Virginia State Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Randle's death, but do not suspect foul play.

To be driving one minute and dead 10 minutes later would usually indicate a sudden heart condition or aneurysm of some type. There seems to be an unexplained increase in people passing away from rapidly developing aneurysms in particular. Driving one minute and instant extreme headache the next. Pull over and pass away before anybody even notices.... that's an unattended death.
Ever read up on all these people using energy drinks instead of sleep. Usually ends up as a prescription for quick and early grave. Heart attacks, aneurisms, strokes, yet tasty in a sweet tart sort of way.

Someone better tell the kids this...I see them all over the place with these "drinks". Imagine your airline pilot or taxi driver using these to keep awake. Truck drivers, college kids and drivers already do. The "crash" at the end is not pretty to watch.
