People, It's time to review the whole "revenue sharing" agreement. If the city wants ownership of the water, let them pay for it...

I don't know if the City "wants ownership". In fairness, it is Albemarle County that has been growing out of control and placing an immense demand on the available water resource. At least there is one upside to the recession, the unrelenting development has finally slowed to a crawl.

Someone needs to come clean on the 9 mile pipe line- costs to build and operate, route, schedule. DEQ and rate payers are being kept in the dark on this key part of the plan. WHY?

"And it's just getting over that last 2 percent and working toward a solution that needs to be done."

In other words: they have firmly made up their minds regarding "a solution" and are only pretending to have an open debate. Typical government jerks.

I must agree that with the reservoirs being for Charlottesville's water supply, then Charlottesville should pay the costs. People in Albemarle with their own wells have no reason to want the disgusting city water.

Perhaps bulldozing UVA and creating a city reservoir in the city would solve the dilemma.

What hypocrits, why doesn't chn 29 FOIA the DEQ and see how many conversations members of county boards have had with the DEQ. Bet the number would be exponentially higher than anyone talking to them from the City.

When will we see the media ask the tough questions and do some investigating ?

You won't find any tough questions on The Daily Progress - it has been taken over by Charlottesville Tomorrow and the pro-dammers. Without a staff of true reporters, it's just a mouthpiece.

If you want tough questions and investigation, go to the Hook. They have been the only ones reporting facts and asking the tough ones.

This is a request. Chn 29, please FOIA the DEQ and ask to see any and all correspondence between any city or county official, the Nature Conservancy, and anyone at the DEQ since 2005 up to and including today, concerning our community water supply planning process. Then you'll find out who the real lobbiests are. I'll bet your eyes will pop out at how hard county officials, the Nature Conservancy, and the RWSA have lobbied the DEQ against dredging, and for a new dam at Ragged Mt. and a new uphill pipeline connecting South Fork Reservoir and Ragged Mt.

When will Chn 29 investigate what these people are saying and perform a service for the community ?

I think the County is runninng scared. They know their plan is full of holes, and is a waste of community resources and overpriced. But, they can't find a way to save face, other than to support their faulty plan to the bitter end.
Taxpayers beware --conservatives in sheep's clothing--ready to fleece you . Ha, they say your taxes wouldn't go up to pay for their dam plan.
Since when did developers not get ordinary folks to carry the water for them ?

Bet you're a BO supporter. In the meantime, close your big mouth, open your prejudiced mind & educate yourself..then get involved on a constuctive level. But my money says you respond with another dumb (as in stupid) comment.

I guess Obama's trip to Charlottesville was good for "back door" Norris. Our Mayor has learned the art of exclusion and back room deals. Good job Norris, you just might make a good cabinet member at the White House.

Champ, you look to be from the bottom of the gene pool. You are not the sharpest knife in the drawer and your bulb is dimb. This is not a simple problem and the answer does not come without thought. Since this concept is way, way, way above you, please shut your mouth while other figure out how to take care of you and your useless brood for the next generation. While you're at it, take the Kool out of your mouth and put down that forty of "Old English" malt liquor. You look and sound as dumb as you could possibly be.

You give Democrats too much credit. Actually I think the two party system helps to weed out the dumb (or dumber) politicians of either party.

The CITY already ownes the three reservoirs. Expanding Ragged Mountain makes up for the loss of South Fork Rivanna Reservoir, not very much extra water.

We do not need additional reservoir capacity for several decades according to the most aggressive forecast, if we begin dredging now and properly maintain the system. This is all about CONTROL as ACSA points out so well. The county is willing to spend many 10s of millions of $ for control of water.
