Lawmakers Talk About Revenue Sharing Changes

Legislators from our area may be asked to vote on changes to state law that could nullify Charlottesville and Albemarle County's revenue sharing deal.

"It's worked very well for the city and the county and unless the city and county decide that they want to change it - I wouldn't be in favor of doing so," said Rep. David Toscano (D-57th district).
-Toscano (i.e. from the City priviously).
How has this worked very well for the County? They hand over buckets of money to the City every year under the auspices of not getting annexed when there is no fear of annexation any longer. Sooo... what does the County get out of this other than an smaller bank balance?

I agree, my county taxes would be better off spent on county projects than wasted re-bricking the mall. County residents are basically taxed without representation by the city. How is that fair? Looking forward the payment from the county is expected to dramatically increase in coming years. How can we continue this clearly one-sided agreement when our schools, neighborhoods, roads .... are in such dire need of monies?

I love the language liberals create such as revenue shareing! Those of us who are informed by something other than the liberal media have another name for it. It is called stealing from the rich to give to the undeserving!
