For God's sake people! Check your spelling before you post something. I can't believe some of the mistakes I've read here tonight. I am a locked out AK employee. There are many people just like me who are looking for a job but can't get one BECAUSE we are locked out AK employees. All you people who think we should just go out somewhere and get a REAL job should get your heads out of your asses and imagine what we are going through. Nobody will hire a us when they think we will quit as soon as the lockout ends! I would be glad to take another job but I can't even get an intereview. Also, all of us are not lazy and everybody gets dirty everyday! We work lousy hours in horrible conditions and we don't get paid a fortune! The only way we make over $40,000 a year is by working a buttload of overtime.
The union members are pawns if this game being played by management and the executive committee. We don't know who to believe anymore. We just want to go back to work. We would be thrilled to go back to work with the same contract Ashland got but the company has not offered us that contract (or so we've been told). Most of us accept and understand the idea that the skilled trades jobs will be contracted out and all those employees who were in skilled trades jobs will ultimately be moving to production jobs. I don't believe that is an issue anymore. Let's get past that. Most shop jobs will be gone if and when we go back to work.
Also, it has recently been brought to my attention that there are a number of retired union members who are currently working at the mill, crossing picket lines everyday and collecting a pension at the same time. This behavior is sickening. To those people I say, "Thank you for giving us a merry Christmas."
Finally, and again, we just want to go back to work. We're not greedy, lazy, or stupid. We just want to go to work every day and get paid every week. It's time to end this pissing contest and get back to work. Is that too much to ask?

I hope that the company settles and the scabs, who profit on the misery of others, have to go out and find jobs on their own. These parasites cannot find high paying wages on their own. They take the jobs of folks who worked for years to get the wages up to a livable level.Go back to your minumum wage jobs ,scabs. These are people of low moral character so may they rot in a firey hell

Scab Hater; all I can say is you must have been involved in something to hate people ALSO trying to simply make a living. As for your last line that "These are people of low moral character so may they rot in a firey hell" I have accepted a job as a "SCAB" and as a verteran from the US military I can personally say STFU.

I was union before the service so umm yea I can. I hold no grudge vs. Unions or anyone making a living. This struggle has been going on awhile and it’s between the union and the company. By directing your own frustrations on people is of no help and all in all no consequence to them so I guess you can just keep on hating... Shows true Color…

THE CONTRACT YOU GOT IS THE SAME AS THE FIRST AND SECOND. I AM AN ATTORNEY AND CAN TELL YOU THE LANGUAGE IS OF LITTLE DIFFERENCE. YOUR UNION FAILED YOU. YOU SHOULD DIRECT YOUR PROBLEMS TO THEM, HELL YOU PAY "DUES" TO GET SCREWED. HOW STUPID! AND MOST OF THE LOCK OUT WORKERS ARE VERY LAZY, I KNOW ABOUT 70 OF THEM AND THEY JUST DON'T HAVE A CLUE. I'LL BE SURPRISED IF 200 PEOPLE (LOCKED OUT WORKERS) EVEN PASS THE HAIR FOLICLE TEST. YOU AND I BOTH KNOW AK WAS A BREADING GROUND FOR DRUGS.

so youre saying, someone will screw up the job, but you guys screw it up so bad that the boss hires other guys that screw up less, leaving him clear of the screw up?

btw, i also work at ak right now, they pay me 12 dollars an hour and the work is so easy i am happy to make that. its almost like a dream that a company will pay even that much for such a small amount of work. i hope the lock out ends soon so i can go on to the next job and make even more money, maybe it wont be as boring.

i hope you S.L.U.G.s (Slow/Stupid Lazy Union Guys) have realized now that you can be replaced in an instant, and your job doesnt require all that much skill. ak doesnt need you, and the world doesnt need you (most of you). some of the jobs, i admit are very hard, and deserve the pay, some of the jobs deserve minimum wage. take your contract, get on with your lives and be happy with what you get, im holding up fine with 12 dollars an hour, im sure you can handle life at a cool 25.

I am what u call a scab, I see it as a paying job. The company men I work with don't want most of you union people back and said because hair testing goes back years most of you will never pass. They even said of us scabs are getting hired by AK. See you on the line baby.
I'll be the one working hard and greatful for it. Don't give me your bs about being locked out. You should've stood up to your union and asked them to pay all your bills, hell you let them decide your fate. Some union.

You have no idea how skilled most of the "scabs" are. I lost my job when my company went over seas because of a crapy union such as yours. We do not profit from others misery, furthermore, we didn't vote in the union officers you did. Blame yourself you good for nothing wimp! AK has been running better according to the company guys and most of you were very lazy. We had to clean all the porn mags out of the cranes, dvd players oh yea you union guys had it really "hard".Maybe if it was put in your contract for sex, drugs and 20 hours of work for 60 hours of pay you could do your job. Thats cool, it's your problem, I will do my job and train you because I love the way this company has treated me and my fellow co-workers. I will be respectful to all and report all that are not and I will make sure I record everything!

Yeah I'm just another scab I guess you could say, I live a simple life. I don't ask for a lot out of life. Just to have a job and to make enough money to take care of what business needs taken care of. I have a wife and children just like most of you union guys. I feel bad sometimes for you guys being locked-out, but I make my living by working and making money to feed my family and to pay bills just like any other American. America is said to be the land of opportunity. That opportunity came to me when this all began. I don't get the chance to make this kind of money around where I live. Most of all do what is right in your heart. I don't have bad feeling toward any union employee. Just quit whining so much and making such a political thing over it. Going public will not put any food on your table! Sit down and discuss the mature aspects of the problem and don't be so dang greedy about everything and remember to love thy neihbor, if he needs the money and you don't so bad, heck vote this thing in
and I will go on my way. Just consider us scabs as someone holding your spot in line and when you get back, we will move along. Not all scabs should be hated, some are here just for the money some like myself are here for the experience of working in an American legend of a Steel Mill. Thank for the ride, it's been great, but come on back when you feel it's necessary.

To all the unhappy union workers...

Just keep voting no on all the new contract proposals, if you all have had it so bad, then find other jobs, cause I'm loving making this kind of dough!!!!! Its unbelievable you could complain about making 70K/yr for doing the little amount of work you actually did a year ago. Sorry, but that's your bad!

Thank God this mess is finally going to end. All you haters can go back to your trailers and leave the scabs and the union workers to work out their own problems. Life will get back to normal for us some day, and in the meantime I hope those of you who were sitting back enjoying the drama will forget about the last year. Find something else to gossip about. Nobody wanted this.
