Mortgage Processor – Part Time
Company: StraussGroup, Inc.

Description
We have an exciting opportunity for someone who has worked in the residential mortgage space with at least three (3) years worth of experience as a processor, underwriter, or solicitor. This job is unique in that the individual will only have to work a few hours per day, a few days per week in order to satisfy Federal licensing requirements for the company. Therefore, someone who is looking to work part-time, perhaps even someone in retirement that is looking to make extra income, may want to consider this opportunity.

Our client is in the technology and marketing space with an emphasis on mortgage banking. The individual we are seeking will be required to pass a rigid background check – including credit and fingerprinting.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking for additional income but is not seeking a full-time opportunity. The job is located in the Chelsea district in a very chic office space.

Requirements
At least three (3) years worth of experience as a processor, underwriter, or solicitor

1. AHM cut off their employees benefits as of 12:01 midnight on 8/3/07. If you had appointments made months before, you have lost your rights to see a Doctor.
2. I Spoke with Courtney in HR regarding the vacation owed to the employees and was told this is included in the Bankruptcy and the Judge has to make a decision whether to pay or not. Many employees usually take their vacation towards the end of the year. Now this is 'supposedly lost'.
If there is an Attorney reading this blog can you please advise us former AHM employees if this is allowed in a WARN act. Which we were told that we had to sign, but instead they made us a list to sign, I am not sure if that list means we received the letter of lay-off or if that list is being used towards the supposedly WARN ACT letter that we never signed. Please advise how legal is this. AHM did not care about the employees financial obligations or medical history, is this legal?

I do not believe that this is legal under the WARN Act and that they owe us 60 days pay, however the problem is that there are no monetary assets there to satisfy their obligations to the employees so we simply become one of the creditors who most likely will never see a dime.

I do not, however, believe it is illegal for AHM to disregard employees financial obligations or medical problems. It's disgusting, horrible, and unfair, but not illegal.
i did not sign the list

i did not sign the paper they asked us to sign.

they didn't force you to sign it so i didnt. they just asked

so would i excused from the warn act? even tho people just signed a paper with no words attached to it? it was just an acknowledgment of receiving the pink slip

they had us sign a list on a clip board when they gave us our benefit cobra package. I was told this was just alist to confirm we were informed about Cobra and this would allow us to file unemployment. Was I mislead

I never got any cobra either. I was told we will have it by friday. But in the handout they gave us it stated we would be paid for unused vacation. I counted on that money. We got no severance and no thank yous for all the hard work we put forth everyday we were employed. To top it off there are very few jobs in the mortgage industry right now. Im disqusted. You have to have more than 50 people working out of your office to join the law suit.

Good luck to everyone.

As of today I have not received any Cobra package in the mail either, I am not sure why the list was given to some offices and not all the offices, but then again the folks at the 520 building were never honest enought to tel the TRUTH to the employees even up to the very end. But what I want to tell you folks out there that have 401K you can get your money from Charles Schwab now, you can roll it over into an IRA account if you choose not to there is about 30% penalty to the IRS. So get your monies and roll it over into an IRA, at this time you want to be in control of your money not someone else.
Yes I am interested in joining that Lawsuit too.

Thanks ex employee and Former AHM for the information. Everything we read is always about the 520 Building or the other employees in NY and people are forgetting about all the other offices around the country and the really good people that worked for them. There are no jobs in Florida cause the market sux. Its just not NY - our home prices and taxes and insurance are sky high also. Can we move our 401k's even though it shows that we are still active employees (Im not but thats what it says)?

You can't move your money out of Schwab until AHM shows us as being terminated. I talked to someone at Schwab yesterday, and they said they are waiting on the company to notify them of the seperation. Hopefully next week they will have that info so we can get our money.

Also, I hope Michael Strauss ends up spending some time in the Martha Stewart suite at the local jailhouse.

If anyone gets any information about the lawsuit please let me know. I also heard the bankruptcy court is reviewing the vacation pay. I heard we should be getting it at the end of the month or beginning of September.

Thanks for the info about Schwab - I will pass along to my ex co-workers. It would be really nice if we get our vacation pay since most of us didn't take any since we were so busy....Do you all really think Strauss will get jail time? The Attorneys for the lawsuit are Nichols,Castor & Anderson - talk to Michael S (I think) 877-448-0492. That all the info that I have.

The attorneys for the WARN Act case are Lankenau & Miller (one of the partners was quoted in the article) I signed up really easily by emailing them at www.lankmill.com under contact us. Who knows if we'll ever see the money, but as far as I understood, wages are not 'just another unsecured claim'. WARN money is considered administrative priority claim, so if there is any payout, I want to be a part of it.

Folks, it's very easy to contact this attorney and to sign upo on line. Why not take advantage of this, most of us are hard working indviuals with obligations that was left in a lurch. If we were fired for circumstances we created then fine no benefits or vacation but we were all hard working individuals that were taken advantage of. perhaps no one thinks that we would be savvy enought to pursue a lawsuit. Fight for your rights people.
Good Luck to all of us. I hope something good comes out of this.
