To Claire Freda, councilor at large: Claire, why would we want you on the City Council? You had no foresight when the Hess Gas Station was put on Route 12. Read more

Give me a break. You're kidding right? City councilors protecting from competition? You mean like Rick Marchand and the doggy daycare? Yes, I do watch the council meetings and think they all have done a fine job

There is no evidence that the building of yet another gas station in the city has had any effect whatsoever on the price of gas. As for the paternalistic comment "good jobs for the locals," you're welcome to the part-time, no benefits minimum wage jobs these retailers offer.

Prior to Hess going in that Sunoco charged toward the high end for self-serve gas. Now to match Hess it's among the lowest in the area.

For that area, it was not "yet another gas station", but rather, only the second self-serve/convenience store station on that road for several miles each way.

Your "evidence".

Exactly. Both abused power and used deception to hide the real issue, both wanted to do a favor for a friend.

Take off the rose colored glasses. Years past when "money does not buy the vote", unbelievable. No one is more influenced by money then Claire. Where did she get the money for all of her failed State Rep races? Ask any major developer in city if they give to Claire. Of course because they know that they can count on her vote.

You better think again if you don't think some other candidates are working/looking for support from developers. Of course, Developer X wants his representation on the council...look whose signs are on his properties! At least B & L have helped the community.

This is the smartest post I have seen. Yes, change is needed in Leominster, go out and vote in November, new blood is needed on City Council.

Claire is one the brightest, smartest, and well thoughtout councilors, and has served forever, with that comes a wealth of knowledge. I can't believe that there would be anyone in the city that wouldn't want her to serve for the entire city. I mean seriously, she really has been a great coucilor. Ask her anything, or anything that is brought up in the meetings, she has the knowledge to understand the correct answer. Or, more importantly, she will find the correct answer, and get back to the person or the entity thats involved. Listen folks, listen to the coucilors up there. I give them all a ton of credit for serivng our community. It's a tough job. And for those that are so critical, you run for a position and see what its like. You know, its OK to be critical, but don't make it a personal blow. Be polite, use your head.

Totally agree with this. I saw the debate on cable and she was one of the few who made any sense at all- and knew what she was talking about when she was asked questions. Im glad I will have the chance to vote for her as I don't live in her ward.

Total nonsense! I saw the debate on cable as well, what did she say? The same thing she has said for years, Met with governer, Harvard, MMA, Soccer fields. What has she done for Leominster latetly? Nothing.

Pure politician who can't get along with anyone. Claire first, city second.

The people of this city have spoken several times. No good enough for Boston not good enough for Leominster.

Forget the debate. Frankly, non of them made alot of that night. She is a politician, like all of them. And you say she doesn't get along with anyone. Are you serious! Sure it's important to get along with others, which, she does. How can you say, Claire first, city second. SHE IS all about the city.

Listen, is she right all the time? No. No one is, all I'm saying, it would be a huge loss, if she didn't get in. She is the voice of reason. Ton of knowledge, that she uses to help the city, and us the citizens.

Luther, I've updated the saying. It's now, "Politicians speak out of both ends of their body".
