They should give us a refund of what we've overpaid them the last two years and a reduction in the amount that we have to pay for the next several years! Enough of the pocket gouging!

AEP will whine about how they need an increase of money...they'll bribe

PUCO management..& they'll get their way...always do in the long run.

Turn out the lights..we've seen this ploy before.

AEP is a monopoly that gouges its customers and has fictitious charges like applied after they do not do an actual meter reading for 3 month straight!
In the capitalistic market this company has no incentive (competition) to drive prices down. But man do they pay their CEO handsomely!
PUCO is a lap dog to the industry and do what ever their overlord (AEP) wants

"[Appalachian Power] wants another 10 percent rate increase. The compensation package for CEO Mike Morris rose 22 percent to $8.7 million in 2010."

Yeah that's right $8.7 million is out of your pocket and into one persons!

What are the Republicans at the Statehouse doing.
This company stole the millions fare and square. It's just communism for government to insist that AEP pay back the millions it "misbilled"
Keep Kasich in power.

AEP has raped the consumer long enough, we want the money back now.

All you free-market loving Tea Partiers better just pony up and keep your trap shut if they raise rates $100 a month. And don't even think about complaining to the government you refuse to support...how's that small government working for you?
You want free-market capitalism, you got it, suckers.
Oh, and since we all know Tea Partiers believe you shouldn't have to pay for it if you don't believe in it (Healthcare reform, abortion) then they'll just have to pay double because I won't be paying any extra. See, I don't believe in a capitalist free-for-all America, so I'll just skip those hikes and send the bill to the toolbag down the street with the 'Don't tread on me' flag flapping in front of his house.

You cannot spell "Cheap" without AEP. The profits do not go into keeping the system in good shape. There is no Maintenance or upgrading of old lines.

If you vote Republican, you have nothing to complain about because you voted for this.

No wonder AEP has come out publicly as a FOK (Friend of Kasich). Kasich has been known to actually bend the law for his friends, give state money to his friends, and commend low wage and low benefit jobs for his multi-millionaire friends. They need a buddy in high places right now. Watch as Kasich wades in on this issue, now that AEP is advertising on behalf of Kasich's budget.

The PUCO is a joke! AEP seems to be able to stick it to their customers in any way, shape or form. Where's the customer choice when it comes to electricity in Columbus. I guess the AEP CEO needs more of our money so he can continue to ride Kasuck like it's his job.

So power goes up 5% and the government flips out. Gas goes up 50% and no one seems to notice in government.

It's a GOPher government they noticed gas going up 50%, haven't you noticed the gleam in their eye. Oil companies making more money equates to more teapublican donations; it's called the trickle down effect, it really does work.

yeah sure their going to fight against it who didn't know that? all utility companies have record profits, because of our retarded puco who are nothing but rich people that like to pass every rate increase, and they still want more or keep what they have cheated the public out of! this puco has never not passed a rate increase as long as i can remember and i'm 60 years old! does that tell you how crooked the puco, the utility companies and the government, state and local care about you? i say fire all the puco and hire everyday working class people to replace them! this is your government at work and they will screw you on a daily basis! john george columbus ohio

If you don't like the cost of your electricity - then disconnect it from your house and do without.
Electricity is the one utility that you can control your bill on. You pay a flat rate for phone service regardless if you use the phone or not.
And lastly - AEP has some of lowest rates in the country. Try living up in Connecticut on Massachusettes and see how you like their bills since their rates are 2-3 times higher than AEP.

I would love to pay the AEP prices - I'm on a co-op utility and our rates are through the roof.

Right on target with your comments: remember the consumer absolutely must pay for those profits NO MATTER what sh## decisions executives make at any for profit company. That's the name of the game: lose money and have your consumer dig deeper to fill the pockets of the Board of Directors and/or shareholders.

Give me a campfire, flint and I'm good! Of course in reality I would not endure for long!

On the other hand, if you think AEP sucks, try having Ohio Edison! You would think AEP is very cheap by comparison.
