AEP installed a smart meter at my house without my approval. They have since been sending me reports that my power usage is much higher than my neighbors. My neighbors also get the same reports that their power usage is much higher than mine.

AEP has sent me proposals to limit my power consumption during the peak months so I can reduce my power bill. So when its 95 degress outside, its 105 in my upstairs bedrooms. If I turn on my air conditioned to cool the house down, I would be paying spot power prices during the peak periods, thus any savings through their energy reduction program would be erased, and I then would be paying substantially higher energy prices.

No Thanks!

Does that mean that I can impose a charge to AEP for paying my bill on time?

Why is this no surprise. AEP and most other utilities have the rate payers over a barrel and fail to even use lubrication. All they do is pass along any minor additional cost to the ratepayer. It would be nice to have an honest utility in this state, but that is asking for waaaay too much. Lord knows even if you make record profits-still F over the little guy.

Of coarse I don't expect much from this supreme court either.

Any other business that has to make improvements, takes it out of their profits, not pass that cost onto their clients. We did a complete remodel at the restaurant I work for but we didn't raise prices, part of the cost of doing business! But big business is in charge, not us, and big businesses are the ones who support these judges and donate to their campaign funds so they will always win, not the little guy!

Corporations and environmental investors make millions off of the meme of saving the environment. It is beyond my comprehension that people buy into this stuff.

The "cost of doing business" is yet another American idea gone by the wayside. Welcome to the new United States. America, as it was, is gone.

AEP was one of the charter members of Gore's CCX. Do some research on how the corporations are in bed with all politicians in the name of saving the environment. Those CCF light bulbs shut down US production of light bulbs, as an example.

I wonder if this is just another benefit of de regulation, and we're too stubborn to appreciate it. De regulation was for our benefit, or at least that's what they told us.

Just b/c AEP throws change towards environmental solutions doesn't make the the golly green giant. They are the #1 (or #2) CO2 polluter in the US. The fact that they are trying (and succeeded) at f ing over the rate payer to pay for AEP's compliance with the law is disgusting. Stop being an apologist.

For those of you that believe in the global warming hoax, oh I'm sorry " climate change", what do you expect? You want the utilities to lower emissions, install scrubbers, close down coal plants, improve efficiencies, maintain reliability, etc, etc, what else do you expect? This is a regulated utility - you get what you pay for. I feel sorry for the smart meter customer - The environmentalists are probably happy.

These CLIMATE CHANGE czars of Obama's and their regulations are who you need to be blaming for this. Lets not forget GEORGE SOROS and Cass Sustene and oh all the marxists and communists in the current white house. This is all classic REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH done under the gise of CLEAN ENERGY! Jokes on all you lefties! Too bad we all have to pay for your stupidity
