Copper costs AEP money. When your upstanding citizens steal copper, AEP has to recoup the costs from customers. AEP keeps the lights on with WV coal.

Your payment for your eletric keeps your lights on! Try not paying your bill for a while. You would be in the dark...Scrap companies have to take some responsibility, when they buy large volumes of copper from thieves...

Yes, I agree that coal is essential to our economy and I'm behind it 100 percent. My family mined coal for years. But I'm sick and tired of hearing miners talking about how dangerous it is, that they are risking their lives for everyone else. That being said, understand what I'm saying. Yes, mining coal is extremely dangerous, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for everyone who works underground. But don't get on here making statements like everyone owes you something cause your job is dangerous. Last time I checked America is still a free country and you chose to be a coal miner. So man up there cowboy. Didn't anyone inform you that it's dangerous before you started? They are actually jobs out there less dangerous. You always have the option of going to college, getting a degree, make more money than you do now and the biggest injury you could sustain is a paper cut. And by the way, do you see any police officers on here posting that they risk their lives to keep you safe? Do you see any loggers commenting how dangerous it is to keep you in furniture? How about airplane pilots? Military personnel? I could go with this all day, the list is endless. I think it goes without saying that not everyone has what it takes to me a miner and you guys have a great deal of stress and labor to deal with on a daily basis, then you add in the risk factor and you guys still perform at a professional level is absolutely amazing! Just understand that the only one that owes you anything is the company you work for, and the same applies to everyone else no matter the field in which they work.

Just like the saying YOLO it means you only live once. I think that if you hate your job enough to be posting then quit your job go back to school and do what your passionate about. Life is about being happy. Im 23 years old i have my own place and everything i need i work and pay what i am supposed to. No I dont like my job but I live..Im also taking college to better myself and make my life happy. so remember YOLO

As a customer of AEP, I am part of a family of their customers.
All I know is, if these upstanding citizens around here keep stealing copper and damaging electric utilities, then everyone can expect a small increase on their electric and phone bills to pay for this blatant vandalism.
It isn't enough that AEP gives you outstanding customer service by providing cheap affordable electric and keeping trees off the lines and fixing vandalism and more importantly, AEP keeps the lights on and helps support the mining industry.
But no, that's not enough for you people!

Besides, if you people are so hard up to pay for a small increase in electric, then you have other issues in your life that need straightened out. Such as, drug abuse, prostitution, and alcoholism.
YOUR issues are YOUR fault!
They are not the fault of an honest, caring, and respectable company like AEP!

For one AEP sure did not keep the trees off the lines a few winters ago when people from WV to KY went without power for up to 11 days? Second how are they supporting coal when they are changing over to natural gas? Have you not read the papers? Hundreds of workers being laid off because of it.. I understand rates going up due to pill heads stealing copper and shooting up plants. But they are not to blame for all the increases. Its called a monopoly! And yes Steven Spry did it!

God makes it snow, not AEP - the snow damaged the lines, not AEP - AEP fixes the lines and does not blame God.

AEP needs rate increases so they can pay 15 people to stand and watch 3 people cut trees. Or sit in the truck and sleep. If I ran my business the way they do I would have been out of business a long time ago. AEP has the Public Service Commission to allow the to keep raising prices. Its not like people have another option for their electric so they are stuck with AEP. Sad, sad, sad.
