“We're working on a rate redesign to help them move from where they had been to today's market-based pricing for electricity. There's no way to get around where they are at.”

A large part of what's wrong w/the whol elec. entity is a zoning law or act in '65. This zoning act guarentees elec. co's a base set of consumers that they will never lose. That is if you MOVE. The huge misconception is there aren't enough elec. co's to chose from. Well, thats not true. There are more than enough providers in this state to cover the needs of the state. You & me just aren't allowed to chose. Now does this sound like a free market to anyone reading this. I didn't think so. One more thing, when someone gets in trouble should they be able to chose their punishment? Less than half of the money goes to the consumers the other goes to things that should of been paid by ameeren anyway.
