YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING? 1ST OF ALL
MOST EVERYONE IN DOWNSTATE ILLINOIS IS BARELY
MAKING ENDS MEET, UNEMPLOYMENT IS HIGH, GOOD
PAYING JOBS WITH BENEFITS ARE ALMOST ALL BUT
NON-EXISTENT.
TAXES KEEP GOING UP ALONG WITH FUEL AND
ALL UTILITY PRICES ETC.
FOR A WORKING MAN THE WHOLE SITUATION IS
VERY GLOOMY.
MY PIONEER ANCESTORS SETTLED HERE IN ILLINOIS
IN 1815 BEFORE THIS WAS EVEN A STATE.
I HAVE LIVED ALL OF MY 50 YEARS HERE IN THIS
STATE BUT I'M AT THE POINT OF RELOCATING TO
MISSOURI.
I KNOW OF SEVERAL SMALL BUSINESSES THAT
DUE TO THEIR HIGH UTILITY BILLS MAY BE FORCED
TO CLOSE UP SHOP DEPENDING WHAT LIES AHEAD WITH
AMEREN ETC.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE REAL POVERTY JUST GO
ABOUT 20 MILES FROM WHERE I LIVE TO THE TOWN OF
CENTRALIA,IL. AND SEE HOW BAD PEOPLE ARE HAVING
IT THERE.
THAT TOWN USED TO BE A BEAUTIFUL THRIVING
CITY NOW ITS THE METH CAPITOL OF ILLINOIS.
IF A PERSON LIVES THERE ABOUT ALL YOU HAVE FORWARD TO JOB WISE IS WORKING AT SOME FAST FOOD
JOINT OR A WALMART, MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE
HEALTH COVERAGE.
THIS WHOLE SITUATION IN ILLINOIS ESPECIALLY
SOUTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS IS PATHETIC.
SOLID LEADERSHIP IS GONE, CORRUPT POLITICS,
ETC.
AND BY THE WAY I WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOUTHERN
AND NORTHERN ILLINOIS DIVIDE AND BECOME TWO
SEPARATE STATES.
ALL CHICAGO DOES IS SEND LOW PAYING
JOBS AND TRASH OUR WAY WHY THEY ROB US OF OUR
HARD EARNED TAX DOLLARS.
PRISON'S ARE RUINING SOUTHERN ILLINOIS ALSO.

SO CHICAGO KEEP YOUR CORRUPT PRISONERS AND
THEIR FAMILES IN YOUR AREA INSTEAD OF SENDING THEM
DOWN HEAR TO POLLUTE OUR BELOVED LAND.

LONG LIVE SOUTHERN ILLINOIS.

You are right Jeff. Good paying jobs with benefits are almost non-existant in downstate Illinois, and we are about to lose 1,400 more of them. When Standard & Poors lowers Amerens bond rating this coming week, at least 700 Ameren employees and 700 contractors will lose their jobs. These people had absolutely nothing to do with the rate increase, other than the fact that they happen to work for Ameren. I would say that many of them are Ameren customers and are affected by the rate increase just as the rest of Amerens customers are. It's really sad that so many people think these people deserve to lose their jobs just because they are Ameren employees. When working class people start praying on each other, it is truly a sad day. Corporate america has thrown another nail in the coffin of the middle class.

HAROLD,
I DON'T LIKE TO SEE ANYBODY LOSE THEIR
JOBS INCLUDING CONTRACTORS AND AMEREN EMPLOYEES.
I HAD FAMILY MEMBERS WHO WORKED FOR
ILLINOIS POWER YEARS AGO.
I MEANT NO DISRESPECT TOWARDS ANY WORKING
MAN OR WOMEN IN THIS REGION OF THE COUNTRY.
HOPEFULLY SOME PEOPLE WITH MORE KNOWLEDGE
THAN I CAN WORK THIS WHOLE MESS OUT.
IN THE MEAN TIME COUNTLESS PEOPLE OF LOW,
MIDDLE CLASS, WORKING POOR, PEOPLE ON FIXED INCOMES
AND OF ALL AGES CAN'T AFFORD THESE HIGH COSTS.
GOD HELP US ALL THANKS JEFF

uhm... the reason won't find high paying jobs in small rural areas for the same reason you won't find them in the middle of the desert... there's nothing going on there and the only competitive advantage is low property values... there's no reason for companies that offer high paying jobs to be located in rural Illinois.

WELL BRETT I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU.
1ST OF ALL WE HAVE RURAL TOWNS WILLING TO GIVE
COMPANIES A VAST ARRAY OF BREAKS AND BENEFITS
PLUS INCENTATIVES TO LOCATE IN DOWNSTATE ILLINOIS.
THE PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS HAVE A STRONG WORK
EITHIC AND MAKE GOOD EMPLOYEES.
THERE IS PLENTY OF LOW COST LAND.
WE ARE SURROUNDED BY MAJOR INTERSTATES ETC.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS HAS ONE OF THE LARGEST COAL
SUPPLIES IN THE NATION THAT WE ARE VIRTUALLY SITTING ON ETC.
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE,
HOUSING IS LOW COST, THE SHAWNEE NATIONAL FOREST
IS 2ND TO NONE.
CRIME IS RELATIVELY LOW AND THE TEMP. IS IS
MODERATE, SELDOM DO WE HAVE BLIZZARDS ETC. WHICH
SPELLS LOWER HEATING BILLS.
SOUTHEN ILLINOIS IS NOT CONGESTED.
TAKE CHICAGO, HOW DO PEOPLE LIVE THERE?
