An eManzimtoti woman is among 60 South Africans poised to launch an international lawsuit in London against a prosthetics company for dud hip replacements.
Alarmed surgeons reported that patients with hip replacement implants are likely to have a revision surgery because most implants are inclined to fail during the first two years of use. Metal hipís safety issues have been under intense scrutiny in the recent month. Studies of metal hip implants indicate that they have higher revision rates compared to other types of hip implant materials. DePuy Orthopaedics, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, is faced with a large number of lawsuits because of their defective hip implant. More information is found at http://www.depuypinnaclelawsuit.com .
I think anyone who considers having hip replacement should be well-aware of its potential complications. I think they should do some research about hip replacements and most importantly, discuss this matter to your doctor. With cases in Australia and Europe, the DePuy ASR hip system controversy has indeed become a world event. Already a case in California has been ruled against DePuy. This may mean more cases will be filed against DePuy. Hopefully, what is happening may serve as a lesson to DePuy and other companies to put the patient's safety as priority. For an update on the DePuy lawsuit, you may check DePuy ASR hip lawsuit information center.
Based on reports, hip replacements are associated with some complications especially with that all-metal hip implant. Many of its recipient filed lawsuits against its manufacturers for adverse effects they experienced which include inflammation, pain, loosening of hip implant, and metallosis.
