Raids Drive Illegal Immigrants Into Underground Economy

Mar 29, 2011 Full story: online.wsj.com 95
Critics of U.S. immigration policies on the left and right take issue with such audits by the Obama administration, also known as silent raids. They say that, as a practical matter, the raids shift illegal immigrants with relatively well-paying jobs into the underground economy. Conservatives would rather deport the immigrants; others call for a path to U.S. citizenship. Full Story

Mandate e-verify for ALL jobs and even the underground economy would not hire them. Make it a crime to hire anyone with checking thru e-verify and jobs for illegals would vanish.

Illegals already dominate the underground economy, just ask all the American drug addicts where they get their drugs from?

Did you know that the underground economy is likely better pay than the pay they'd receive in their Country of origin?

So it's still worth it to them.

I think the drugs are transferred to citizens well before they hit the users. Plenty of americans are looking for a quick way to make a dollar.

Well, that's true but it's still part of that illustrious underground economy. Did you know I can get my lawn cut for only $20 bucks a month from the underground economy compared to $50 bucks a month from hiring some agency from the get ripped off legal economy?

Well I can do it for less than $5 bucks if I do it myself.

Drug dealers have a motto, dont get high off your own supply however I'm sure many illegals get hooked also. Keep in mind, I don't hang out with illegals so my guess is as good as yours on that call!

LMAO! How many times a month are you getting your lawn mowed?

You know around here they will charge $60 per week to mow an average sized lawn. Now that's friggin robbery! It's manual labor for god's sake! My brother's used to drag the lawn mower down the street and mow lawn's for $5. Teenager's don't do it these days. Uneducated americans want big money to push a mower, or swing a hammer, and we wonder why undocumented workers have the jobs.

First of all...Undocumented workers are called illegals thank you. You wouldn't call a burglar in your home, an uninvited house guest would you?

Secondly, illegals have the jobs is because many employers do not use everify to find out if they are legal. btw, everify is a free service, additionally, the US government is not enforcing the laws already on the books. That is why they are here. Not because Americans are lazy, but because the federal government has decided not to enforce immigration laws.

The federal government is doing their job. They have the funding to deport 400,000 undocumented workers a year, and they are doing that. But, there are 10+ million of them here. Why? Because you're one of those uneducated dumbazzes that want $20 an hour to push a mower.

They can always go home and don't bring up US born children. They can take them with them.

BTW, North Carolina House votes to ban Mexico’s Matricula Consular card. Look for other states to follow.

"On Tuesday, by a vote of 64-53, the North Carolina House of Representatives passed HB33 which bans the use of the Matricula Consular card, issued by the government of Mexico as an acceptable form of identification.

HB33 will mean that the cards which are not verifiable and easily faked, will no longer be accepted by any state agency, including police and schools.

The bill which was co-sponsored by Rep. Mike Hager (R-Rutherford) and Rep. George Cleveland (R-Onslow) passed along party lines, with all but one Democrat voting against it.

Rep. Cleveland argued:“The Matricula Consular is in reality not worth the paper or plastic it’s made out of,” and that the cards were produced by the Mexican government as “a way to legitimatize their nationals living north of the border.”

The measure will go onto a final vote on Wednesday, before moving to the Republican-controlled Senate where it is expected to pass."

Yes, and while we're at it, we'll ask all those illegal alien drug addicts too! As the illegals come in, drug use goes up. It's not only Americans and your assumption that it is is small minded, bigoted and racist. You must be an Ameriphobe. You're scared to death of ALL things American, aren't you?
