feel very defeated by the hiearchy and have been in contact with several bankruptcy lawyers to no avail. Seems our hands are tied until there is a "settlement" Our major life savings are gone.

Why would anyone invest a major part of their life saving in something not insured?

It was no different than playing the market or going to the track. If it was money you couldn't afford to loose then you had no business investing in an uninsured certificate.
It was a good ride while it lasted.

You are precise! This is gambling. However, if requests for payment on matured notes were ignored and instructions never acted upon before the bankruptcy declaration, there could be some fraud issues that may bring some restitution.

We had 6 corporate bonds that matured in Dec. 2004. We requested the money in Dec. 2004. Never got a cent. They declared bankruptcy in Jan. 2005--more than a month after our request.

Have you heard anything back from ABFS?
I have a similar problem like you. Before they filed bankruptcy, my noted has mature, and I was waiting to cash the money. However, when I called them, they said they could not pay me, but they told me they have about 15 million cash ready to give out. Bottom line: they still never pay back my money even though my noted was matured 3 months before they filed bankruptcy.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Leo

Why are you still fighting, Leo? Everyone else went home a long time ago, but you're still here pounding your fists on the table. Although you don't want to admit it, accepting defeat may be your most practical option at this point. Sometimes it's just easier to move on than to keep up the fight. When you're forced to restructure, at least you have a chance to redefine. YouÕl get the opportunity to start with a clean slate, so use it to your advantage.
