An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Intellectuals have been oppressed by the brain-dead, self-loathing, Marxist white liberals to the point of 'making up fairy tales'. This actually happened, you baboon.

excellent post. silly liberals write in rediculous remarks because they can refute nothing. they always resort to the blame-game, name-calling hateful attitudes you spoke of in your post. and they're all to prideful to admit it..haha. it's kind of funny to see them get all 'pissy'. they start wagging their fingers in peoples faces and they only get more flabbergasted when conservatives reach out and break their finger off.lol...verbally speaking of course.

Since you are sooooo intelligent (without critical thinking skills), you do the homework. You are a collectivist which means you do not have an independent thought of your own. You rely on the leaders of the left wing movement to do your thinking for you but you are so uneducated, you don't even know it.

You have an eloquent text Munga and there is truth in what you say but do you really think people will accept the words you say and write even though it is true? You no doubt have intelligence but the manner in which you write is filled with such "supremacist" notions that no one can possibly take you seriously. And yes, I am black. A young black man at that.

Tell us what difference your race is and why it is important to this discussion? You people say you want equal rights while demanding special ones. This post has nothing to do with race.

I never implied that it did have to do with race. But I do get the impression from you that you always think you are right. So I suppose that is what I meant but you coming off as superior. As for me? I don't demand anything. All I ask is to not judge me before you actually know me. I couldn't care less about "special" rights. The past is the past, so let the past die. But I won't let my ancestors be disrespected by letting anyone belittle our history...not to say that our history is more important that any one elses. And my apologies, I didn't mean to turn this into a racial thing. That was not my intention.

True or not, this anecdote has a powerful punch to it. It does not demean or make the anecdote less powerful to call it a "fairy tale"; go back, read your Grimm's or Aesop, and you will see each story illustrates what we know to be true.

Those here who call it a fairy tale or question the voracity by asking who the professor was, where the school was, etc., they only do so because they cannot defend socialism or their leftist beliefs with reason.

Very well put. Unfortunately I don't know much about Socialism so I cannot defend it. I do like to think of myself as an Eternal Optimist. I would like to believe that everyone is trustworthy and I treat them as such until I am proven wrong. Now, would this work for a government? Probably not, because deep down all (yes, I mean ALL) humans do have a desire to have great things and success with minimal work. So what is the best type of society? Hard to say, because every person. Unless someone wants to give an island to every type of personality out there -_-

uuummm..actually, YOU DID. you made the statement, "...the manner in which you write is filled with such "supremacist" notions that no one can possibly take you seriously. And yes, I am black. A young black man at that."

maybe that's because compared to you he is superior. are you related to 'RealBrother' or 'WelleducatedBlackman'? you seem to have the same mental capacity.

i thought you said let the past die..? you sure seem to have a tight grip on it. also, the pathetic past blacks hold sooo dear is a lot less heroic than what media and the public school system portray it to be.

of course that was your intention. you just tried to use a different door to get into the same room.

Frigga, you are really unnecessarily insulting. Is that the only way you can have a discussion is by belittling the other party? I'm sure you are just stating these things in the manner in which you are stating them to try to get under my skin and if that is the case, why be so childish? Why can you not have a simple debate without throwing in insults?

I am curious what exactly these "supremacist" notions are. Could you elaborate for us. What in Munga's text leads you to this conclusion?

The interjection of race where it is not relevant is racism. I fail to see where race relates to a discussion of socialism.

But...but...I didn't MAKE my points yet.

How can we have a profitable discussion if you concede before I even start?

Also, your girlfriend laughed at you for giving up so easily. Your manhood is at stake here. And I'll tell her if you don't man up.

Alright then.........when I called Munga's text "supremacist" I was not refering to the socialist statement that he made, rather I was talking about the statement he made to WDRussell.

"Since you are sooooo intelligent (without critical thinking skills), you do the homework. You are a collectivist which means you do not have an independent thought of your own. You rely on the leaders of the left wing movement to do your thinking for you but you are so uneducated, you don't even know it." -Munga

Maybe I am home, but does that not seem a little superioristic to you?

Snarky, yes. Sarcastic and biting, yes. Superioristic? I'm fairly certain that's not even a word.

Obviously, Munga considers his own views superior to WDRussell's. And, he chooses to be insulting and sarcastic in his response, which has debatable merit. On the other hand, WD's response to him was to ignore the point of the issue, obfuscating the moral of the allegory with quibbling. I can't blame Munga much...if WD really has something interesting to say, maybe he could try refuting the thesis rather than dodging around it.

The issue, I think, is with the choice of the word "supremacist". Obviously, most people think that their own opinions are correct...none of us choose to hold an opinion that we think is wrong. So, by definition, I think my opinion is correct. If I didn't, I'd have a different opinion. The word "supremacist", though, is rarely used in connection with opinions. It's generally used in connection with racism, extremism, and a combine in Idaho. So, your choice of the word, together with the fact that you chose to mention your race (and what does that have to do with your political opinions?) leads us to believe that you are accusing Munga of racism.

BTW, Munga's original statement wasn't exactly socialist. Rather, it was anti-socialist. I think maybe you just meant "statement about socialism", though.
